Hi,
You know how Apple cares about pri­va­cy. Do you think that they would let de­ve­lo­pers ac­cess what you type or have ty­ped with other key­boards ?

In other words:
The only in­ter­ac­tion Ma­th­Key can do with iOS is to say : « in­sert this text at the cur­sor po­si­tion » (it can even move the cur­sor) and « de­lete the last cha­rac­ter ». Ma­th­Key is to­tal­ly blind : it can’t see what it has de­le­ted or what is around it has in­ser­ted.

So if you don’t use Ma­th­Key to write sen­si­tive in­for­ma­tion, we ab­so­lu­te­ly have zero way to ac­cess it.

We used to have an of­fline conver­sion en­gine in the first ver­sion but many users re­por­ted that it kept cra­shing. In­deed, MyS­cript’s en­gine uses more RAM than iOS al­lo­cates to Key­boards so it just kills the key­board. It’s a shame be­cause ne­west de­vices are ful­ly ca­pable of pro­vi­ding more RAM to Key­boards... So we qui­ck­ly mo­ved to on­line conver­sion be­cause it was the most re­liable so­lu­tion. And in or­der to let Ma­th­Key ac­cess the conver­sion server, it needs to be gran­ted the Full Ac­cess abi­li­ty. Be­lieve me, if we had the choice, Ma­th­Key wouldn’t ask for this op­tion.

I real­ly un­ders­tand your concerns but you real­ly should trust this app. That is just the way Key­boards work : the only things with they can read is what you type with it.

If you have some ba­sis in de­ve­lop­ment, I in­vite you to read the third-par­ty Key­boards API docs: there isn’t any me­thod al­lo­wing you to read the do­cu­ment.

This app can’t recognize many symbols such as phasor notations . The theme is primitive and not comfortable to work with.
