Ratings and Reviews
Amazing, except for one big item and one small item
I’ve tried some other planners before and between them being clunky due to them not being designed for what Sunsama does. Based on the small amount of time that I’ve had using this, I am pleased generally with the functionality offered. However there is one really large omission that prevents me from giving it a five star review: there is no integration that I have been able to find with iCloud calendar which is what I use for the majority of events (it is possible to overcome this in some ways, but this is a feature that would be tremendous to add). The other thing is that it’s annoying that you are forced to sign in using either google or outlook when I’d prefer to use Sign in with Apple or just create an account directly with Sunsama. I’m still a trial customer but I’m intending to modify my review once the trial ends to see if anything new has come up from my use of the application.
Underdeveloped mobile app for a pricey membership
I wouldn't go so far as to say the mobile app is "useless", but it is surprisingly underfeatured for how costly Sunsama is ($20/month). The mobile app is not "minimal so you can focus" or anything like that. It is underfeatured. You can't see more than one day at a time. You can't really meaningfully alter your schedule. There is no local cache that I can tell, so if your phone isn't getting wifi or data signal, tough! It assumes you are regularly at a desktop computer to do your planning ritual, but I'm sorry, that's not how the workplace is in 2022! To design your whole app system around that assumption seems naive! If this was a free / cheaper app I'd be a lot more lenient about this, but full individual membership is $20 per MONTH.
Sunsama overall is thoughtfully designed with a growing catalog of useful integrations, so that part is well worth the price - but other productivity apps of comparable price have more fully featured mobile apps comparable to their desktop counterparts (Trello, Smartsheet, Asana). I know it is a new app that is in continuing development so I am hoping they make the mobile app more useful soon… but for the time being, beware!
Developer Response ,
Hi, thanks for your review but I'd love to clarify a few things:
- You are right we haven't got parity on the mobile app yet, but we're working hard on that!
- There is a local cache, the app works fine if you're offline.
- You can see always two weeks in the past and future.
- The mobile app is a companion app for when you're on the move so you are right, we assume most of your time is spent on your computer.
We will continue to develop and it's a long road ahead of us but hopefully we'll get there with each step!
Thanks,
Joseph
Literally my entire life
I’m not reviewing the mobile app, as I barely use the mobile version other than checking my schedule. I plan and manage everything on my desktop.
Holy cow, is this my literal lifeline. I used it a while ago for the free trial and loved it but decided it was too expensive as a college student. But a year later research and university ramped up and I need to be way more intentional with my time. I remembered how great it was and I’ve been using it since and let me tell you. My workload? Double than normal. My stress levels? Halved. I actually know when I’m going to do things, and plan them out in a way that I know works for ME. This is not an all-in-one app, though, and shouldn’t be treated as such. I keep a notion page for deadlines for projects and due dates for homeworks, and then come to Sunsama to plan how I’m gonna tackle it all. Yes it’s expensive, but I would honestly give up two meals a month to make up for the price tag, that’s how much I’ve come to rely on it. 10/10 for a busy stem girl
