Beta testing made simple

Apple

Description

TestFlight makes it easy to test beta versions of apps and App Clips to provide valuable feedback to developers before they release their apps on the App Store. Developers can invite testers through email or a public link.

When you test a beta app or App Clip, Apple collects and sends crash logs, usage information, and any feedback you submit to the developer. The developer may use this information to improve their app and related products. Apple may use crash logs and usage information to improve our products and services.

For instructions on installation, testing, and feedback submission and for details on how your data is handled, see testflight.apple.com.

Great app

I have zero experience working out so I got this app per a friends recommendation and I’ve loved it! I had zero idea what I was doing going to the gym but this app has given me exercises to do, explained how to do them, and taught me proper form. I’ve really enjoyed it and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who has goals they’d like to reach, especially with the new year coming up. I’ve been using it for several weeks now (I got the beta version at first) and I’m down 17 pounds and lifting more than I’ve ever done before (not like it was impressive initially). It’s worth the value because I’d be paying a personal trainer more than double for a single session.

Basic UI failure when submitting developer feedback.

The overall process for participating in a TestFlight beta is fine, but the TestFlight app itself has a pretty glaring, amateur UI issue when submitting feedback to the developer - as you type into the modal feedback box, if your finger brushes the area outside of the box even briefly, or if you put your device down and then pick it back up, the modal dialog is closed and everything you’ve typed is discarded without recourse. It’s nearly 2025, I expect better (especially from Apple) than having to go back to the old world of “type something up in a basic text editor and then copy-paste it into the form to avoid losing everything you’ve typed”.

To make matters worse, the “submit” button on the feedback doesn’t generate any visible confirmation you’ve actually submitted anything, it just closes the dialog, same as if you had cancelled the submission by touching outside the dialog. Given how close the submit button is to the edge of the “window”, this is also pretty ridiculous.

Well this is ironic...

So far, I'm having a good time tending to an app's test track. Here's my problem: including screenshots with feedback. If I initiate feedback through TestFlight, I can only include ONE (1) screenshot. However, if I take a few screenshots in a row, go into Markup from the thumbnail on the bottom-left of the screen, mess with them and click Done on top-left, then I select "Share Beta Feedback", I can use all of the screenshots I just took. The problem with that is, I have to take screenshots within 10s of each other. However, I could use some time to meticulously select and manicure screenshots for the test app, which means I would rather be able to manually select them when I go to report feedback within TestFlight, but that's limited to only one screenshot.

I am saying all of this here because I see absolutely zero TestFlight support options as provided for pretty much every other app. I don't mean to complain for a review, but I do believe that is an Apple and an iOS/iPadOS 18 issue.
