My first password manager and so far has worked well. There are a few nuances but not enough to make it a poor or bad experience by any means.

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

1Password is undoubtedly one of the most secure password managers on the market. Its robust encryption, privacy-first approach, and advanced features like secret keys inspire absolute trust in
protecting sensitive data. It’s clear that security is at the core of this product, and for that, it deserves high praise.

The user interface is sleek and modern, which initially creates a great impression. However, the experience becomes cumbersome when it comes to everyday usability. The process of filling out forms or accessing certain features feels unnecessarily bulky and overly complicated. For a tool designed to simplify digital life, the complexity detracts from the overall experience.

While 1Password is an excellent choice for those who prioritize security above all else, it could benefit greatly from a more intuitive and streamlined approach to navigation and autofill. It’s a solid product for security-conscious users, but the added complexity holds it back from being perfect. A strong contender, but simplicity should be the next focus.

Does what its suppose to do.

The service is great. Has support for multiple browsers and mobile devices, and multiple things that you can store (logins, passwords, notes, documents, credit c
ards, etc).

I would try to improve the 2fa feature, which is not easy to reach when you need to use it.
And also being able to add password to secured things in the app. Basically once you unblock the app, adding a second layer so some things can be secured with another password.

Besides this, no the product seems to be quite safe (never had any leaks or problems) and relatively simple.

I had a terrible experience with 1password. They have a terrible customer service system. I followed all the instructions and printed out my secret key and main password but for some reason I couldn't login to my main account, only the browser extension. This made it impossible to export passwords to use another service and to easily cancel my account. Very frustrating experience overall.

Great service, but lacks local language support

I have been a satisfied user of 1Password for a long time and appreciate how secure and user-friendly the service is. However, when I wanted to upgrade to 1Password Families to share passwords with my parents, I encountered a significant issue: the lack of Norwegian language support.

My parents, who are getting older, find it challenging to use apps and services in English. I provide a lot of support to help them with digital technology on computers and other devices, but the lack of Norwegian makes it harder for them to use 1Password independently. Norwegian language support would make a big difference in empowering them to manage passwords more securely and efficiently.

While 1Password is an excellent service otherwise, I am now considering switching to Proton Pass Family, which offers Norwegian language support. It's unfortunate, as I would have loved to continue using 1Password if it had better language options. I truly hope this is something you will consider adding in the future.

Bad quality, bad customer support

This is a good password manager with a not very good user interface and very bad support. I use it on Ubuntu Linux.

Bad UI: the UI is messy, with both a native tool and a browser plugin. The browser plugin often opens the native tool for things, and the UI between the two is confusing: the same icons show different menus.
The native app also lacks an option to generate a password; that can only be done when adding a password entry or from the browser plugin. Pretty stupid, because there are many places where good passwords are needed that do not relate to a browser.
What also sucks is that in Opera you have to login to 1Password separately, even if the native app is running. It used to work properly before but some idiot thought it was a good idea to "fix" that.
And finally, when opening the tool it often opens on the last page you have used, or on the "all items" page. In this age of online meetings where we often use screen sharing to do things this is a Bad Thing. There should be an option to open such that nothing is shown initially.

Customer support is very bad. They usually answer after a few days but the answer to any problem is more or less this: "We are aware of the problem and have noticed development, it should be fixed in a future release". And usually that fix does not come at all. For more than half a year starting 1password on my PC gives an error the first time, and it then takes 3 minutes to get the thing running. So far no fix.
They also make bad changes; there seems to be a great lack of quality control. Secure notes that cannot be read because everything is shown as a single line. Not being able to copy anymore from a secure note without editing it. Incompatible changes to their command line tool which causes deployment scripts to break....

I will be on the lookout for something better.

Generally pretty okay however it's impossible to get a response from support

While overall I will say everything is good at least for the most part the problem is things do break often times more than I would like however getting a response from support is often times hard enough I have had several support tickets that I was waiting 3-4 weeks for a response to
Then when you get a response from customer service often times the agent is less than helpful and often times just asks you for information that you have already provided them when you respond often times you will be waiting several days for another response from another agent who will likely just ask you the same question over again
Yes the product works however customer service leaves a lot to be desired
I am happy to report that I was able to resolve my most recent issues however it took weeks to find out this was a known bug and an update was coming that's unacceptable

Can't login to 1Password webapp anymore…

Can't login to 1Password webapp anymore after first attempt to authorise dekstop app using microsoft365 SSO which failed. I have to get a code from my profile from an existing session on ms Edge while none such session exist. Never experienced such a broken workflow; now suffering a locked out syndrome...

Very UNHAPPY 1PW user expereince

I've been a happy 1PW user experience, but due to a recent hack on my PC we had to clean the PC from core to score.

I tried to get back in 7 days ago, and because I only use the account to get passwords, I wasn't aware of their new flamboyant... "Emergency Repair Form or Secret Password."

Due to this I'm now unable to gain any access to my account as it's encrypted. I've now been given two choices by their illustrious support team. Carry on paying and have NO access to any of your data ever, or close the account.

So, I'm closing the account, and I won't be telling any of my clients who ask about this on a day to day basis, I'll tell them to steer clear of 1Password.

I made the mistake of choosing this…

I made the mistake of choosing this platform to keep my passwords safe and give me a cross device password solution.

Little did I know I'd have to become a Software Engineer to use it. Poorly designed user interactions, even more horrifying is their customer support.

At the end of 5 messages I still cannot use it, no one at this company has a clue about business or simplicity.

Very Good

I have been using 1Password for over a year and I find it superior than Lastpass, which was frustrating at times. I will continue to use 1Password for the forseeable future.

A great password manager

A great password manager however the only negative point is that I do not like is the integrated 2FA since in a data breach tthe hacker obtain access borth the credentials and the 2FA and therefore the MFA end up pointless.

Great tech support team!

The 1password tech support team is really knowledgeable. (Shout out to Meg and Brendan!) I like being able to get help from someone who's on my level instead of having to go through a tiered system.

I feel good knowing that my passwords are secure but I have a few small gripes.

On my last password manager, before this one, there was a button to automatically generate a password and save it to my vault. I liked that.

The 1password website has a password generator webpage but it's very hard to choose your password length using a slider bar on mobile.

On Android 12, I have my 1password set to require my password to be re-entered weekly but sometimes it won't switch back to the fingerprint sensor until after a reboot of my smartphone.

I think 1password is worth the money though. It is better than the free password managers available to choose from.
