I wish I would’ve read the reviews first… Recently booked a hotel and purchased the protection policy in case of an emergency/cancellation… Of course they denied the claim and gave me about five different excuses. Why my situation didn’t fit their parameter… With that I would highly recommend anyone Considering to use AIG for any insurance/protection policy, especially in a hotel booking situation… To definitely read the fine print and not just check the box to let yourself forwarned by understanding all of the fine print/red tape and jargon they will use against you to deny any compensation.

NEVER EVER HIRE THEM FOR ANYTHING, YOU WILL BE ON YOUR OWN

The worst insurance company I've delt with.

It's absurd how they take every possible opportunity to delay the payment to the custom
er, in months

They send you incomplete forms so every interaction take at least 7 business days, and they ask you for more infos, and this way you never get paid back

I can't understand how they are not being investigated by federal institutions for being so dishonest

I purchased the premium/upgraded cancellation insurance from expedia just in case I needed to cancel. It said I could cancel for any reason and get my money back for a flight.

When my work event
got cancelled last min, I tried to cancel, and they said I had to file a claim and that it WASN'T guaranteed I would get my money back.

I tried to file a claim and the website glitched and told me I had to call in. When I called in, they were unhelpful and it was a nightmare.

Do not purchase insurance from AIG travel insurance AIG this…

Do not purchase insurance from AIG this is scam
After waiting 15 days I received a call from the adjuster that I needed more documentation when I provided all it was required.
3 days later I received an email telling me that cannot provide any type of accomodations because I am receiving credit from the airline, when I called the airline they are telling me that the air fair was cancelled as requested because I had purchased insurance no credit has been issued. Called again AIG just to tell me that I had to right a letter stating that I not receiving credit. We are at day 20. At this point I asked to speak a manager name Jonathan who provided no help whatsoever and that my claim has been cancelled as a result of the airline statement which it was not true. He refused to contact the airline to confirm that I was not receiving a refund or credit. The reason for cancelling our family reunion was death in the family Jonathan had no empathy whatsoever infact he couldn't care less.
Now another family member that did not purchase insurance was able to get a refund from United Airlines and within two days the refund was approved another 5 days the money was in the account.
Worst company AIG shame on you, I played their game for over 20 days. Be prepared for all kind of excuses in trying for you the customer to be fed up so you can go away and ripped you off.

Bad Experience

I purchased their insurance protection via Expedia. A scamming rental car called Zezgo accused me with existing dents on their rental car, and charged me $2,000. I contacted AIG, but they didn't help. Wasted money for nothing. I shouldn't have purchased insurance protection.

It must be a wind up

Never returned by call, until I complained
When they did phone, they left a message saying they would ring me back and months later they still haven't
I have moaned again , and again, and again, and they keep saying they will look into it. Statistically I could be dead in 10 years, any chance I can get a response before then. Would be nice

Extremely bad management

Extremely bad management. Very poor skilled administration employees. Very poorly behave receptionist and billing personnel. Pharmacy guys are also poor in handling patients. Their main focus is to joke with their colleagues during working hours. Make wrong bills and you have to wait hours to get the correct medicines and amend the bill mistakes

Purchased a Complete Care on my furnace…

Purchased a Complete Care on my furnace for 10 yrs and is good till 02/15/25.
Lennox dealer attempted to fix noise problem six times but was unable to repair.
Lennox approved a replacement as they felt the furnace was defective.
AIG would not approve as they used the excuse it does not cover this problem.
I just paid $699.labour to replace furnace which I think should be reimbursed as I have coverage until 02/15/25
Does AIG not honour their coverage.?
I thought I would contact you before contacting Consumers Affairs.
Thx for your attention.

If you are considering buying insurance…

If you are considering buying insurance for your trip DO NOT BUY IT FROM AIG. is a waste of money and when you call their agents they give you the run around.. I also blame EXPEDIA, because they offer their the insurance through AIG.. I will never buy a ticket again from Expedia, I had an emergency and I could not make my trip, but I thought that was the point of getting a travel insurance but I guess I was wrong.. I hope they go backrup before they continue to screw people over.

Don't sign for it. It's a SCAM

When I signed up almost 20 years ago for life insurance with AIG, they promised that if I never got ill with anything terminal I would get back all that I paid into it as one lump some. I've never got sick and they seemed to have disappeared.. SCAM!

I got somehow dragged having to deal with AIG since AppleCare+ theft and loss uses AIG as their partner.

I was robbed in London on 3/14

As soon as this happened I was with the police and marked my phone lost in my iCloud within minutes .

After chasing to the address the find my showed, we were unable to retrieve the phone as it was an apartment building with over 50 units. The police doesn’t have the authority to go in and search.

I went to the Apple Store and filed a claim right away within 1 hour of my phone being robbed.

This has been nothing but HORRIBLE experience

I was on the phone with apple support, was told I should have a phone within 4 days from March 14th and I should be able get it while I am still in U.K. as they have this protocol to convenience customers who are on the road.

I gave them my UK address as I was there until 3/23.

On 3/15 I receive an email from AIG asking for Gov ID with pic and proof of purchase again, replied and provided within 20 mins from the email.

Been calling AIG almost everyday since then as all their correspondence says we will contact you within 2 business days but nothing ever happens.

3/15 talked to rep and was told all documents are in order we just need to wait, and the time frame is 2-5 business days. That I can refer to the terms and conditions, which no where to be found confirmed with apple that it takes 2-5 business days to resolve a claim.

Rep name was Janice and she was the rudest and unhelpful. Asked to talk to a supervisor and was told will receive a call back. Never did and today is 3/22 still never heard back.

Keep calling everyday until 3/19 was told it still within time frame and in no way phone will be in UK by 3/23 and I have to deal with how to retrieve phone.

Since by now I have learnt that every time you call, they give you different information.

I called back and was able to change the shipping address back to my US address.

Called again on 3/20 and being told they ask for another 5-7 business days as it is still being reviewed. Rep Angela couldn’t provide more than this.

How long am I supposed to wait.

The terms and conditions says they will contact with an outcome of the claim in 2 business days.

This has been nothing but awful

I understand this maybe out of apple scope but apple should definitely stop partnering with AIG if they cannot honor the claims that they promised

3/21 Rep Nora said she sees a note saying an outcome of this claim will be out in the morning on 3/22

3/22 noon comes still no email, no call. Portal still says phone claim is pending review. Called again and Rep Pau said he will escalate and wait til next week.

I finally lost it and said I don’t want any apologies or empathy. I want a solution. Connect me to someone who can make a decision or can do something than apologize.

Again was told a supervisor will be notified and will call back.

Never heard anything but 2 hours later the claim got approved and he deductible was charge to my credit card instantly

Called to see when will the phone will be shipped since it says as soon as approve they will ship out via fedex priority overnight.

Was told by rep Joshua takes 2-5 business days from approve to ship the replacement phone and another 1-2 business days for delivery, even tho in apple website says up to 4 business days to have the device delivered once claim is approved.

This has been the most awful 10 days of my life and I hope I never have to deal with AIG again as I for sure won’t ever purchase any insurance or anything I have to deal with them

I do feel sorry for the reps working for them that are thrown out there with no information for customers.

I am sure I am not the only one who have called and lost it with how many bad and awful experiences you can find online.

If AIG can’t honor the time frame then don’t partner with apple offering phone insurances.

It's a s-h-i-t company

It's a s-h-i-t company - simple & plain...they take much in insurance policy, but refuse to pay anything if you should need it!!!

"The insurance only covers tooth injury due to accident or food intake" ...

My dentist at the destination said "your problem with cracked tooth is caused by eating a nut or other hard food"...

Then they come to the the conclusion that we DON'T PAY ANYTHING and hope customer don't use government complaint agency - because then we will loose so hard...

That tooth treatment cost $ 200, you said $ 100 was your maximum refund on tooth treatment, then deduct it with with $ 50 in self-risk... Is it worth getting irritated customers and bad reviews for $ 50????!!! Obviously for AIG....

What is the point of Travel Insurance?!

I recently had a very bad flight back from Dubai to UK on the date below. The EK031 flight was 2 hours 37 minutes delayed - strangely just below the threshold for compensation. We were over 2 hours on the plane delayed by rain. Yes the Emirates cannot deal with rain, even international award winning airlines.

I had taken out additional £48 insurance with AIG for any interruption to my travel, as I was flying close to conflict areas in Gaza, Yemen and Ukraine. I have lived in the region for over 20 years so was cautious.

The flight delay caused an issue with my onward travel with National Express, and was bumped off the next coach which was full, and further delayed 4 hours. I then had to pay £36.75 for a new single ticket.

I contacted AIG and received two conflicting replies, one from a loss adjuster saying that I probably was not covered, but could neither confirm or deny and I was welcome to waste my time further. No thanks.

Another mail included an un-editable partially completed PDF claim form, that I now have to try to work out how to complete, if I can be bothered.

Most of the contents of the claim form does not seem relevant to my simple claim for additional costs incurred.

Next time I will not waste £48 that would more than have covered the extra ticket required and coffee whilst waiting. Total waste of time and money. I will not insure with AIG again.

I am not surprised at their rating by others, but they are the only linked insurer for Emirates Airline it appears.

I planned a trip to Italy

I planned a trip to Italy, with three other girlfriends. We all purchased insurance through AIG. Our trip for for 18 day, flying first class. The departue date was May 18, 2020. Obviously, Covid hit the entire world. Although we all wanted to complete our vacation, we were not allowed. Knowing we were not allowed and could not complete the trip, we filed on AIG. They did not honor our insurance. They stated a pandemic was not covered. I have since traveled 8 to 10 more times (w/o insurance) and I am curentlly booking another trip. I will never use AIG again. That was my first and last time using them. Had they honored our paid for insurance policy, they would have made over $4000 more (just from me alone) in travel insurance purchaes over the last few years. Every time I book a trip, I refuse the insurance due to their lack of payment. Shame on them. They'd be making bank if honorable, however, they'd rather cheat clients than pay. That always costs in the long run. I'm PROUD to say I will never use them again...money SAVED!!!!!

Do not purchase it is a waste of money and time

I purchased this policy and ended up having an extensive surgery which stopped me from traveling. This was not an expensive trip just two budget tickets to Germany and the company was unexceptable. I had to file the same paperwork over and over again, my emails were not answered and my claim was finally denied after 2 month due to the Flight company giving me a partial credit. Even if I followed their policy and signed a waiver that I would not use the Flight voucher. This company is more of a headache than a benefit and is not willing to pay what they promise. Stay away!
