The ease of submitting claims is great. Lemonade is very fair in reviewing claims. Some are approved in seconds. I have recommended Lemonade to friends, family, even my physician! Emergencies happen, I would take them to emergency vet regardless, but its comforting to know my dogs are covered

I use lemonade for rental insurance . My property manager told me this would be a good company to use for cheaper rental insurance considering we needed to have it prior to moving in. Well unfortunately the apt unit under me caught fire the next day I moved in. NOT even 24 hours of moving in I had to move out ..it was a very stressful situation moving in and moving right out . ofcourse I was a bit relieved because I had lemonade to make sure i at least could file a claim and be repaid on all the things that had gotten damaged. This happened 11/22/2024. It is now 12/28/2024 and I have not heard back from the claims department outside of the first week of the fire. They stopped responding to my emails and when I try to get them on the phone they hang up on me . I see all the reviews about the claims department being top tier, unfortunately they aren’t . I wouldn’t recommend this insurance company

We had a robbery just before Christmas. They required pictures of you with stolen items; receipts for stolen items; and serial numbers of any stolen items. They didn't inform us in advance that we needed to record any item of value in order for them to reimburse.

Pretty much a useless service, only worth having if your lease requires insurance.

claims department isn’t professional

HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

Dealing with Lemonade Renters Insurance has been one of the worst experiences of my life. Their website claims to "understand" that not everyone keeps receipts, yet I provided receipts for every single stolen item and still had to send them multiple times—four, to be exact—because they deemed them “insufficient.” No explanation, no clarity, just repeated requests that felt more like a stalling tactic than genuine assistance.

Their promise of “fast claim payouts” is nothing short of misleading. The website states they need only a police report and a list of stolen items with values. In reality, I was bombarded with demands for unnecessary and irrelevant documents: my rental agreement, property manager's email, photos of damages, receipts for lock replacements, an inventory spreadsheet (which I had to revise multiple times), and even a breakdown of my podcast's business plan. I still cannot understand what any of this has to do with a renters insurance claim.

Even after fulfilling every ridiculous request, I was treated as though I was lying about my loss. My claim, which involved nearly $83,000 in brand-new stolen property, was met with unprofessional and often outright rude behavior. I spent days without responses, spoke to multiple representatives who couldn’t give me straight answers, and endured a grueling 30-minute phone statement despite having already provided detailed written statements and a police report.

After two months of stress, disrespect, and hoops to jump through, I received a payout of less than $20,000—without any explanation. This is beyond insulting. Why am I paying for renters insurance if I can't rely on it during a crisis? Instead of support, Lemonade made me feel like a criminal, questioning how I acquired my belongings as though it was their business.

Lemonade is an unprofessional, untrustworthy, and misleading company. Their claims process is deliberately confusing and designed to avoid fair payouts. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for renters insurance. This company does not deserve your trust—or your business. I'm upset there isn't an option for zero stars.

Lemonade takes forever to approve claims

Lemonade takes forever to approve claims and looks at medical records to try and find a "pre-existing condition" just so they do not have to cover the costs. My dog was a rescue who had a very short medical record and it still took the claims department almost a month to review because they didn't want to cover her prescription meds for anxiety and were looking for any "pre- existing conditions".

It is not made clear that you have to…

It is not made clear that you have to get someone to value your valuable items and upload it as evidence- I don’t have time and won’t be posting the cost of getting a valuation for jewelry, watches and bikes - this must be a US thing as UK insurers don’t ask you to do that - so cancelled and took out policy with a UK insurer

Get Lemonade Pet Insurance NOW - life saving!

I cannot recommend Lemonade Pet Insurance more highly. We had a pet parent's worst nightmare; one of our furbabies got out of the house & was missing for several hours...later found after being hit by a car. We rushed him to the emergency vet at our vet's recommendation. After 3 days in the emergency vet ICU, he was discharged home unable to move around on his own and needed time to rest and get stronger at home before he could be ready to have surgery for his dislocated hip from the accident. The staggering cost of the emergency vet would have left us scrambling to pay for the upcoming surgery. I filed the accident claim on Friday night for the 3 days in ICU and 3 follow-up appointments with our regular vet. 5 days later, I received an email that the claim had been approved, and the money was transferred into my account the same day. I chose a plan with $250 deductable, which then covers 80% of the claim up to $50,000. I was floored how quickly and efficiently this process was. I filed everything through their app and sent my documentation via email. I have told EVERYONE I work with about Lemonade Pet Insurance and urged them to get coverage. This literally has helped my pet's life!
