Complete disappointment
I was in a jam with a room that a tenant left smelling like urine. After cleaning the carpet twice with no luck, I found hope in sands carpet one when I was able to pick out a carpet there in the store. I was told that by picking a carpet that was already in stock I could get it installed sooner. When I went into the warehouse to pick a carpet, I was not picky, I just wanted something fluffy and in the beige tones. The warehouse worker pointed out a carpet and said that if I take the whole roll which was 14 feet he could give it to me for $1.00 a square foot instead of $2.99 a square foot. Now this selection was not my choice but it worked (size and colour) so I agreed (CGG000004423 – Trophy Case – Twilight). The worker told me to just go back to the desk and let them know that he told me $1.00 a square foot and they would schedule for someone to come over and measure the room. When I went back to the front I told them of the selection and the price and the worker at the desk made a note on the top of my quote and scheduled for someone to come by Saturday Morning to measure. Once everything was measured I was told it could be installed as soon as Wednesday which was great because I have been waiting for this room to be clean (if I could get the smell out) or re-carpeted to get it rented again. I felt like finally something is going my way.
Saturday when Jeff (the director) measured the room I mentioned the $1.00 a square foot and I was told that he would look into it and he confirmed that it was written on the top of the quote sheet. When I received the quote on Monday morning it was now $2.99 a square foot.
My main problem with this is the first I did not pick this carpet. The warehouse worker picked it and I agreed to it because of the price. Second the price in the quote to what I was expecting at $1.00 a square foot is a difference of $372.74. Now I understand that a bill of $806.76 is not a big amount to a company like yours (a drop in the bucket really) but it is to me $806.76 is a lot and its $372.74 to much. When I voice my concerns to Shawna (Flooring Consultant) then she transferred me to Jeff and he explained that the carpet that I choose was part of the current collection and could not be sold at $1.00 a square foot. I did not choose this carpet and I’m not the one who said it would be $1.00 a square foot. Basically your staff makes prices that you cannot honour. That’s less then awesome for someone who is just trying to finish one room to be able to rent out the place after a ton of disappointment. My disappointments in the apartment is not your problem I understand that but it seems to add on to the stress that I thought was taken care of by the great service I received from sands carpet one. To top things off Jeff said yesterday when I spoke to him that he would stop by last night with samples of other carpets that are in stock that I could actually have for a $1.00 a square foot and that I could still have everything installed on Wednesday. He did not stop by or leave samples. Yet again more promise…
I feel like carpet one put me in a position where I have no choice. I either pay the $806.76 and get the carpet installed Wednesday to be able to get the apartment rented sooner than later or not get the carpet with your company and basically good luck to me. At this point I would rather look at other options and if I don’t get the place rented for an extra month I would rather take that lose (which is greater than your $806.76) then deal with carpet one. For a company that prides themselves on customer service you have really failed.
