Wayfair Sells Poorly Designed Products and Makes Returns a Nightmare
I wish I had read a review like this about Wayfair before placing my first order with them. Since I didn’t, I’m making sure others have one to read before making the same mistake. This was my first and last purchase from Wayfair.
I ordered a table, and it was a disaster from the start. One of the screw holes wasn’t secured properly, making assembly impossible. The pieces wouldn’t sit flush, and the surface was uneven no matter what I tried. But the real problem wasn’t just a defective part—it was a fundamental design flaw from the manufacturer. One of the main connection points had zero support because it sat over a gap in the metal frame. Rest your arm on it, and the whole thing sinks. Meanwhile, the other side was designed properly, proving the manufacturer knew how to do it right but didn’t apply the same quality across the entire table.
Wayfair didn’t create the defect, but they chose to sell it. And when I reached out for help, they made things worse. Instead of acknowledging the obvious design issue, they bombarded me with endless questions and demanded more and more photos, dragging out the process unnecessarily. When I finally got through all that, their solution? Sending replacement parts for a design flaw. Not a refund, not a fix—just more parts for a table that was never properly engineered in the first place.
Trying to return it was just as bad. The process was slow, expensive, and full of hoops to jump through. It became painfully obvious that Wayfair does not stand behind the products they sell and hopes you’ll just give up.
This was my first time ordering from Wayfair, and they made sure it was my last. If you're considering buying from them, don’t. There are plenty of companies that sell furniture that won’t fall apart the moment you use it, and who actually care about their customers.

Disappointing experience with Wayfair
I’ve had a disappointing experience with Wayfair and would not recommend shopping with them. The quality of a comforter I recently purchased was far below expectations—it looked great in the pictures but turned out to be cheaply made, flimsy, and poor quality. This was especially frustrating given that the item was at a high price point, yet the materials and craftsmanship were extremely low-end. The comforter completely fell apart on the first wash, with stitching coming undone and fabric tearing immediately.
Customer service was no better. Unfortunately, I did not use the item right away, and when I eventually did realize the true quality of the product and brought it to Wayfair's attention I was rudely told it was outside of their refund policy. They didn’t provide any sort of resolution to make it right and even refused an exchange. They were unhelpful and unresponsive, pushing the problem back on the customer instead of taking responsibility.
Save yourself the hassle and avoid shopping here. I will not be shopping here again and recommend that no one else supports this scrupulous company either.

Until you have an issue with a product, Wayfair is fine
Wayfair is fine, until you have an issue with a product. I ordered a Canvar Hall Tree. The assembly instructions were incorrect, which resulted in damage to the product. 2 similar, but different parts, were labeled with the same letter, resulting in incorrect assembly and then have to disassemble the product. Some parts weren't identified by a letter in the assembly instructions. Wayfair would not do anything to help me with this, other than offer a replacement part, but with all the assembly issues, I just had to throw away my purchase. As a single mom, I can no longer afford to take chances on Wayfair products. I worked assembling furniture for 3 years, and I've never encountered such a horrible experience with assembly.

We were finishing our basement and this was to be a “gift” over Xmas. I ordered a credenza in November it mid December when we went to build it, we learned we only had 30 pieces of the 60+ pieces needed to build it. They could not rush send me the missing pieces or a replacement, they offered me a refund which I had to wait for them to receive it for me to get my 1500$ back. We reconfigured how to set up, I ordered a fireplace and mantle. The first fireplace came early January. The screws holding the packing styrofoam were so stripped, you couldn’t take them out without drilling holes, they offer to send me a new one. New one arrives, it only HALF lights up?!! Wayfair is in the business or mailing crap out to people that is missing pieces, item that don’t work and is just in general low quality. Dont order anythin from the company total waste of time. Now I have ordered from another company. And! It’s Jan 25 and the “Xmas gift” is still not complete

Avoid at all costs
I ordered 4 chairs and a mirror. Both ordered delivered to wrong address. Were re-dispatched, still have not received the chairs. Mirror came defective, they made me ship it back at my hassle and have received a refund for nothing. Have to wait until they receive it which after waiting so long and having so many issues with the order, I have no faith it will arrive there and I will get any money back. I have spent over 10 hours with support as well.

I ordered 5 items from Wayfair in a Black Friday sale at the end of December. 2 arrived fine. The other 3 sent me a receipt on Wayfair billing and I tracked the 3 items for over 3 weeks. I finally called Wayfair after calling the telephone no. listed on my bank withdrawal and it was out of order. They basically said tough luck and call your bank. Our fraud department doesn't deal with cases like yours. He said, I'm not trying to put you off. I said, yes you are. After around and around, I told him I have been a good customer of Wayfair for a long time and I will never, ever deal with them again. CIBC took the fraud seriously, opened up a dispute and dealt with it. God bless them.

I ordered a loft bed and within 5 months the peice attached to the headboard broke. I called them and they assured me that i would either get a replacement part or a new bed. I patiently awaited until i had to email them again and they replied since i didnt buy extended warranty they werent going to do anything. Missing items No refund
Ordered a desk and two parts didn't come. Instead of sending me those parts they wanted to send me a completely new desk for "free". I said no as that's wasteful and I don't have the space. I'd rather take a refund instead. Then I get transferred to the returns department and have to disassemble and pay for shipping returns they messed up in the first place. Not what I asked for, not what I want. You're speaking to a new customer service representative every time and no one is in communication with the last so you need to explain yourself over and over. Just as corrupt as amazon without the customer service. Don't order from here if you can avoid it.

Ordered curtains from Amazon, then Wayfair
Ordered some curtains from Amazon. Two months later no delivery and no timeline scheduled. So looked at Wayfair, saw the same items for sale, although for about 25% more. Cancelled the Amazon order and ordered from Wayfair. Then looked at the invoice and saw it was for individual curtains, not pairs. Who in hell buys individual curtains? So the total price, which was about $57 on Amazon, would be $174.76! So i tried to cancel the order, within 5 hours of making it. Received an email two days later refusing to cancel the order, saying it had already been shipped. That means someone had to go to the warehouse between 7:30 pm and midnight to prepare and ship it. Am I supposed to believe that? Now I have to wait for it to be shipped, and pay the return shipping myself. Thanks, Wayfair! Great customer service. Grossly overpriced and dishonest. Avoid like covid.

Loft bed with broken pieces
I ordered a loft bed which was delivered with a couple cracked pieces. The only customer support I found available was a bot. The bot promised to send the replacement parts but - alas - nothing is being received. Please have a HUMAN dealing with customer support!

Never buying Wayfair again. Learn from me
I ordered a black chair with some Christmas money I received it arrived 2 days later but it was brown and damaged. I reached out to Wayfair using their “chat” option and the Wayfair representative told me to donate the chair as a full refund was on my way! I ordered a replacement and love the chair. UNTIL a resolution team member told me Wayfair will not refund the original chair because it was an open box item. I told him it was damaged AND not the colour ordered. He said the order was for a brown chair when I ordered a black one and a brown one was confirmed and shipped (I remember as I debated the colour choice but shame on me I will have check order confirmations more closely). So essentially I am out $220. Best part is Wayfair is charging me to return the replacement chair! App deleted and NEVER buying from Wayfair again.

I am suprised at the bad reviews on Wayfair from customers here. I had a great experience with them. For the last 3 years I had ordered a footstool, two wall clocks and the most recent one, a kitchen ceiling lights. All were shipped/packed properly, delivered on time and products were as expected as shown on website. Very happy with the products and service. Sometimes the delivery expected dates were pushed back but that was expected anyway. I would order again if the need arises. Happy customer so far...thanks Wayfair! :-)

Terrible policy around delays
The customer service representatives do the best they can but the policy around delays is absolutely ridiculous they’ll delay your order for 2 months and not offer any sort of credit for the terrible buying experience if you try to change your order to an available item. If your ok with waiting 3-6 months for your order go ahead and order from here but take estimates with a grain of salt.

The fair is the worst
Wayfair is the worst online experience I have had purchasing items. I purchased a light $250 within eight hours I had called to try and cancel it as it was the wrong light. They told me I could not cancel it at that time that I was to wait till the light was delivered then I could return it. Once it was delivered, I called them to try and return it and they said no refunds. I said it doesn’t show anywhere on the ad that I could not return it they said sorry we are not taking it back. I can call the manufacturer and see if they can take it back. Stay clear of wayfarer.
