AI Feature Drop: Aria’s answers get a quality upgrade
In today’s AI Feature Drop we’re upgrading Aria’s answering capabilities in the Developer stream of our browser. Now, when Aria identifies one of two categories in the chat with you, the answer provided will be enriched with better content, suggestions, and links to more information. The two categories that are currently getting upgraded are:
- Cooking & recipes
- Products & online shopping
This means that our native browser AI, Aria, will understand it when you are, for example, looking for a recipe or for a specific product to buy, to give you better information and access to what you’re actually looking for.
Let nothing stop you from cooking
Being creative in the kitchen isn’t a piece of cake, especially when – like us – you’re in Norway. So, what can you do? You can dust off your grandma’s recipe book, or you can ask Aria for some inspiration. I’m sure your grandma’s cooking skills are unmatched, but who’s got that book anyway? So, when you ask Aria about a recipe or mention the ingredients you have, you’ll now get more complete answers like the following:
Aria gets straight to the point and gives you what you’re looking for: a list of ingredients and a recipe. Additionally, under Check these out you’ll get up to six links to related sites that can help you out.
And, if you don’t quite like what Aria proposed at first, you can always check the other options. This modality allows Aria to give you up to three different recipes, so you only need to click on the page selector located in the top right corner of the answer:
Finally, you can use Aria’s Image Understanding capabilities to your advantage. For example, if you tried an exquisite dish in a restaurant – and took a picture of it – you can upload the image to the chat with Aria and ask for instructions to make something similar.
Aria understands what’s in the image, as well as your intent – to cook a delicious meal – and gives you various recipes to prepare a dish as good as the one you tried in the restaurant. This works even with the most basic home-made meals, check this one out:
In this case, Aria can help you prepare one of the finest dishes that British cuisine has in store for you by improving those soggy beans on toast. This update helps enhance Aria’s capabilities further, and works together with the already existing ones like Image Understanding.
Get product information and alternatives
Remember the days when shopping online required opening tons of tabs with different reviews of a single product? Even though you still want to do your research, you’ve now got Aria to help you out. With this upgrade to Aria’s responses, we’re making it easier for you to find the product you’re looking for.
For example, if you’re into photography, you’ll know that cameras are an incredible piece of engineering and that even slight variations between models and brands can actually make a big difference. Now, when researching which camera would suit you best, you can simply text Aria the model and you’ll get a full review.
On top of the review – well, underneath it actually, but you know what we mean – Aria will show you the places you can purchase it. In this example, I was shown all the different places to get it here in Norway. And, then again, you can use Aria’s Image Understanding capabilities to find the product you want, so you can combine a query with an image and Aria will understand what you’re looking for!
These upgrades to Aria’s responses make sure that you get better AI support on top of your shopping research, as well as quicker access to the information and locations you’re looking for.
We’re cooking, and so should you
This AI Feature Drop might seem oddly specific since it concerns Aria’s answers in the unique categories of cooking and online shopping. However, it represents a technical upgrade in which we’re improving the quality of AI answers, and we’ll be broadening this scope of improvements in the future.
