We hired Billdr as first time homeowners and renovators. Given the horror stories we had heard about working with GCs, we were encouraged by their claims of end-to-end assistance and project management.

Working with Billdr was disappointing and costly. Our first project manager (we had three and all three left the company) set a bad tone by providing us with an incomplete scope of work and encouraged us to hire the GCs we ultimately went with. It turns out that the GCs they paired us with had never actually completed a project of our size. They were unreliable, dishonest and incompetent - the very qualities Billdr claimed to vet for.

The premise of Billdr makes sense (my brother was an early investor!) but the reality is that the service they provided had zero positive impact and ultimately made the project more costly to us. We did not get regular written reports or effective problem-solving in the face of the numerous issues that arose.

I do not recommend this company.

While we ultimately did not proceed with our project, the discussions, plans and communications beforehand were excellent. Reps are always available to answer questions and are professional and courteous. The reason we did not complete the project was not because of Billdr.co, but for other reasons. I'm sure if we went ahead we would be just as pleased with the process and end results.

BIlldr made it possible for us to completely renovate our house top to bottom in 7 weeks. Billdr’s project manager helped us find a great General Contractor who had a site supervisor on site daily ensuring the project was progressing on time and was ready for city inspections. The trades were all excellent and the house passed every inspection. Now we have peace of mind that all the electrical and plumbing in new and to code. The house looks incredible and totally updated. Thank you!

Terrible experience and massive waste of time.

First engagement with Billdr was in Oct 2021. Took them 4 months to get proper cost estimates. Design and drawings were outsourced to inexperienced freelancer. Another 4 months to receive drawings + plans - with multiple corrections along the way because first, second, third drafts contained wrong information about existing structure.
Billdr put together a generic Gantt chart (8 months after initial engagement) with project timelines only after I complained about progress and issues with freelancer.
They ended up getting our house flagged by the city for issues pertaining to renovations well before we ever lived in the house.

Ended up "firing" them in mid-September before any actual work was started on our renovation. Truly believe we dodged a massive bullet by not trusting a massive home renovation with them.

All in all - horrible experience. Lots of better options out there, including just hiring a reliable general contractor who can do all of the work Billdr claims to be performing.

Don't waste your money.
But more importantly don't waste your time.

It was a pleasure to work with James and his team. Everything went smoothly despite a couple of unforeseen obstacles but that’s to be expected. I would highly recommend Billdr without hesitation and would definitely use their services again in the future

As this project started in May 2022 and is now scheduled to start on October 17th I would say it has not been a very good experience.

We're mid way through our large renovation and the Billdr process has been terrific. The initial service to get 3 quotes was much quicker than doing it ourselves and they all came in 20% lower than what we could find. Once we decided on the general contractor, having the project manager helping keep an eye on the project has been fantastic, especially as we were out of town for 2 weeks near the start of the project. I've recommended them to everyone who asks.

We used Billdr to renovate our backyard. The service was highly valuable - key for us was:
- making the scope clear in terms contractors understood
- independent validation of budget (so we knew whether quotes were reasonable or not)
- management of changes to the scope
I would recommend using them; they were a great partner in our process.

I went to Billdr for help with a home renovation project.

Bert and his team helped me properly scope the project and gave me some ballpark estimates for what it should cost. They then found two qualified contractors who came to see the project in person before submitting a bid. Once I had the bids in hand, the Billdr team helped me compare them and negotiate them.

Once the work started, the Billdr team stayed involved to make sure things were done on time and on budget. This included several onsite visits.

Once the project was finished, they documented a list of deficiencies and worked with the contractor to correct them.

Overall, I cannot recommend the Billdr service enough! They helped scope the project, find the right contractor, manage the project throughout, and then stayed involved until the very end to make sure I was 100% satisfied.
