The horrific abandonment formula they use ruins so many games. Literally 1/5 games ends, with like 5-10 minutes left on my clock, just because my battery saver clicks on or my screen times out for a few moments.
Review quality has also decreased in accuracy, they use a worse default engine now to save compute.
Very buggy interface nowadays, so disappointing.
Companies on Trustpilot can’t offer incentives or pay to hide any reviews.

Used to be a great app for chess but lately cheating has gotten out of control. You will always have cheaters but previously I would receive multiple messages a month stating chess.com has found a previous opponent has been cheating, as such my score has been adjusted. Since cheating has really gotten out of control I no longer receive those messages. Chess.com have simply stopped trying. It's a shame but it's time to look for another platform.
Suddenly a legend forum chat has appeared it has 40+ notifications per every few minutes when you go in and have a look it is full of unacceptable comments..e.g. the n* word, talk about have sex with mother/ each other. Anti semetic/ anti Palestine. general seriously offensive trash talk. I never signed up for this and there is no way to stop it or unsubscribe from it and contacting help is connecting to a bot which says report it. At 40+ notifications every few minutes this is impossible
Never lost a game. Yes, another scumb prog user and chess.com doing NOTHING to clean this site. Shame!
Another STAMPED answer by chess.com, WOKE with CANCEL mentality moderators. Shame on you!

Beware annual charge
My gripe about Chess.com is that it's pricing information is misleading. Their website advertises a monthly fee which is reasonable, so I was shocked to find that a year's subscription had been charged to my account. Shabby practice.

The time lag
The time lag, the useless very few lessons, the time lag. I have noticed that when a game is down to seconds, this program falls apart. I have beaten opponents where we have both used all our time but the game keeps giving more and more time to the loser. Some games my opponent has more time at the end of a normal game, then when it started!!

Muted because I am not a premium member
If you’re not a premium member and another user reports you in the forums because they disagree with you, chess.com will mute you indefinitely.
I’ve reported many premium members who were verbally abusive, racist, and violating multiple guidelines, such as having multiple accounts with the same name and commenting on the same post. Yet, nothing happens to those premium accounts.
It seems that if you want to get away with cheating or verbal abuse on chess.com, all you need to do is pay for premium. If you want to silence any free account user you disagree with in the forums, just buy premium. Since premium users are their main source of income, they aren’t banned for breaking the rules.
And if a free account user upsets too many premium members by saying something they disagree with, they’ll get banned. It’s a double standard that makes it harder for non-premium members to express their opinions freely.
I already expect them to respond to this review with a scripted answer to cover themselves.

Not good for beginers, too much pay-to-win, and too much tryhards
The website, first of all wants you to pay money for a subscription, in fact, most of the features are locked behind a paywall, not to mention, its not good for begginers due to the fact that no matter what you choose, it will always put you with tryhards that are better than you, its a massive disapointment, there are better websites like chess.org

This is a criminal company
This is a criminal company. I sent them about 30 mails!! (yes,I did!) NO REPLY!!!!!!!!! I was pissed off and I wrote them a email with a lot of not gentle worlds and than suddenly they closed my account, cause it's violates their terms of use. Now you see the mails? you just ignored it! cause chess com doesnt give a shit about their customers, than I had one more account, they closed it for no reason. They are sick!!!!!! I am waiting for the sick response from chess com to contact them with the support email, which I already did even after account closer multiple times, as usually no respond, no to metion the time it took me to contact them casue the stupid AI bot doest allow that so easy.... I don't understand why, they anyway don't respond tot emails unless they closed somebody's account which is a few buttons to click, and to let them have a clean conscience they worked today!!! I would fire them all and deal with the owner by myself!!!!
sick!!!!!!! chess com should be ashamed of themselves, and not responde to what i say cause anyway they don't answer on email.

Greedy bastards...
Greedy bastards...
They charge a boatload of money and don't bring any value... I wish I had found another platform to play chess before I was trapped in their greedy scum-like yearly payments. Why make a free trial period and then make it so that you will have to cancel that the day before it ends if not to try and trap users in their rat-like business plan?

The worst chess platform ever!!
The worst chess platform, corporate funded hacks, they manipulate the timer in favor of the opponents, they give 5 minutes extra to the opponent in a fixed 1 minute match, his timer never becomes zero while your timer goes down steadily, they put you against a player of very high rating and don't let you abort the match, they start flashing that "Internet is not connecting" and the game gets abandoned automatically, but the internet works perfectly. Sometimes timer screen doesn't appear for 10 seconds and it results in a guaranteed loss in a 1 minute match, even loss of 5 seconds is disastrous in a 1 minute match. Lichess is 100 times better.

My brother and I both have science degrees. He's got a PhD. We are both computer literate. We can play chess . We are both on modern android phones. And we could not make your app work to play each other in two hours of trying . He could not see my invitations/ challenges . He kept getting directed to games with strangers . I followed the obvious and intuitive process for inviting a friend but it never worked . I'd be interested to have direct contact with someone at chess.com support . Thank you

It’s an app that studies your play and you get the feeling you are not playing online with people all over the world. Suddenly you lose lose lose. It’s like an app that enriches itself from players all over the world.
I read your reply but what i am saying is it doesn’t mean chess.com doesn’t apply bots to enrich someone. How can I lose 300 points with in 1hour. Lose streak you mean??? Is that not kind of very very suspicious? You can‘t convince me sorry. I know what I see so save your words mate.

Not recommended for beginners
I can't recommend chess.com for beginners.
I thought I would try playing some chess, so I logged into chess.com.
I proceeded to get destroyed for the next several hours, by players that were evidently much better than me. This despite the fact that I chose the option at the start that I'm a beginner.
I don't know if cheating is prevalent, or if the website simply can't match you against equal opponents, but needless to say this was a very bad experience - I won't be playing again on their website.
