I bought a Kogan 9 kg washing machine from Dicksmith and it has not worked at all. I’ve sent untold emails to Help and customer care emails. They finally sent me an email 10 days ago to say they would send someone and I haven’t heard from them since despite sending further emails.
It is a terrible service and I’m appalled at their lack of concern and for sending out items that don’t work.
I wouldn’t touch Dicksmith or Kogan products with a barge pole again.

I bought a Kogan 9 kg washing machine from Dicksmith and it has not worked at all. I’ve sent untold emails to Help and customer care emails. They finally sent me an email 10 days ago to say they would send someone and I haven’t heard from them since despite sending further emails.
It is a terrible service and I’m appalled at their lack of concern and for sending out items that don’t work.

Buyers beware, extremely poor service, had a faulty product and impossible to return, kept asking for photos and video of water not hot enough. I will never ever buy anything from this company again. I will buy locally from now on.

I bought a high-end foldable phone for Christmas. It arrived in good time from Australia to New Zealand. However, within two weeks of owning the phone, the internal screen started playing up to the point that it became unusable.
I contacted the Buy Mobile NZ to get the phone fixed or replaced. I was told I had to send it back to Australia at my expense so they could examine it. Before sending the phone, I sent pictures of the phone to illustrate that it was not damaged and that there was a problem with the internal screen.
I followed up two weeks after sending the phone because I had not heard anything. A couple of days later, I was told I had caused the damage to the phone, and they attached some pictures of a phone that was clearly in a different state (damaged) from the one I had sent.
When I resent the original pictures of the damage, I was told that their study had shown that an impact (there was absolutely no physical damage to the phone before sending it back to Australia) had caused the internal screen to malfunction.
They offered to find out how much it would cost to fix it and got the following reply:
We have checked this with our technician, they got a quote for the part however it was too expensive as it is between $800-$1000 (AUD)
Please let us know if you would like to proceed with the repair, otherwise we can send the device back to you so you can also check other options at your local repair centre.
The communication with the Buy Mobile NZ has been poor. It takes days to hear back from them, and at times, if I hadn’t followed up with them, I’m not certain I would have heard back at all. Answers are short, with missing information, and no consideration for facts about the phone's condition before reaching Australia was ignored (despite photos showing there was no damage).
The result is that after purchasing a phone for $2,595.43 (NZD), I am being asked to spend another $1,000.00 (AUD) to fix a problem that was not caused by my actions.
After this experience, I will NEVER be buying anything from DickSmith again and would encourage others to do the same.

Faulty gadget sold - and no refund in sight
The gadget I've ordered took 3 weeks to arrive (R36S Retro Handheld Video Game Console). When it arrived, it wouldn't work beyond turning on and returning an error message. The customer service took ages to reply by email and it took me multiple attempts to reach them. When they replied, they requested I post the item back at my cost to their third party seller for them to assess it and process a refund. It has been 2 months so far.

I purchased a boxing bag stand set…
I purchased a boxing bag stand set before Christmas for a Christmas present, the package was delivered opened. I had to put it together to make sure all the pieces were all there. I noticed big scratches on the base. They replaced the base by sending a cheap looking stand that I was not happy with. I asked for a refund and they gave it. NOW, I have just noticed that they have been taking money from my credit card for the last 3 months!! No one is answering my emails. Does anyone have a number I can call? Not happy!!

Ordered Beats headphones, the first shipment used the wrong address on the label. The pair that eventually arrived have chipped color within a month, as if the shadow grey colour is painted on. The hinge broke in 8 months and DickSmith not replying to me for weeks. Waste of money

Ordered from them on 24th January, delivery at the latest on day 15 since purchsed. It has now been 3 weeks today. I have made many purchses without any issue. Turns out following a phone call to the courier, they have not recieved this purchase therefore no tracking update. I will now be sourcing products from another supplier. So disappointed.

breadmaker only operated 10 weeks…
Purchased a Kogan bread maker in November 24 with an extended warranty. 10 weeks later it will not operate. Notified and now we play the waiting game, if they make contact. We purchased this to bake bread not sit and not operate. We will still wait for a resolve but we will now purchase one from a reputable dealer with after sales service that actually happens

Will never purchase from them again
Will never purchase from them again. Order placed 02 Jan and delivered on 06 Jan…not a problem. However, they sent a Balance Bike when I ordered a double Trike. Initial contact regarding return was fast…then nothing. Saw 4 days later item had been returned, yet no contact. A month later, emailed again and got same generic response asking for pics/video of issue.
6 weeks later no replacement or refund received…and still no contact and still $60. out of pocket 😡

Having accepted my order and payment, Dic* Smith Electronics (can’t use the actual name as d*ck flagged up as inappropriate in Trustpilot), a day later I received an email advising they couldn’t deliver to my address within the CBD area and asking would I like a refund.
After several emails requesting clarification as to whyand receiving nonsensical responses my only option was to request cancellation which apparently will take 5-7 working days to be refunded to my Visa card - and it took 3 emails to extract this info from them!
Conclusion: This site which is actually Kogan.com just using the once reputable Di*ck Smith Electronics (DSE) trading name ( takes money under false pretences, probably to gain interest before offering a refund. Which I am not entirely sure that a refund will actually materialise, leaving me with no option but to raise a dispute with Visa and alert other unsuspecting potential buyers
In today’s smart world of ecommerce, the reseller surely should be able to advise they can’t deliver to a specific area, prior to the buyer entering their credit card details and making a payment
So to all you potential buyers, beware!!!
FYI according to ChatGPT: D*ick Smith Electronics in New Zealand is now owned by Kogan.com, an Australian online retailer. Kogan acquired the brand in 2016 after the original D*ick Smith Electronics business in New Zealand (and Australia) went into receivership. Kogan bought the intellectual property and brand rights, so they continue to operate under the D*ick Smith (DSE) name, but the company itself is part of the Kogan Group now.

Faulse Advertising & BAD PRODUCTS
As other reviews have referred to, this company is a scam.
I ordered a water proof tent which does not come remotely close to being waterproof.
Apon contacting them, they were ignoring my compaints and simply refering to their "change of mind policy", which means I have to pay for return shipping & I might recieve a refund if its meets the criteria.
I stated time and time again the product is FAULTY, as it is not waterproof or the product advertised - but they continued to gasslight me with the "change of mind policy".
Attached below is my review posted on their website via a email received from them to review the product.
Currently, this is not showing on the listing to the product, rather 7 - 5 star reviews are with no comments attached. SCAM
"Poor quality - roll up blinds attach via velcro & some blinds share the same strip with minimal space. Placed it outside in the garden without much wind & it was clear the velcro would detach & flap around in the wind at the beach. I expected them to be at-least tie on & secure
The tent claims to be water proof - quote, “Constructed from waterproof and UV50+ materials, this tent ensures you stay dry and protected from the elements. Whether you’re facing a sudden downpour or strong sun, this tent provides reliable protection, allowing you to enjoy your adventure without worry�.
This statement is completely false, as the velcro attached blinds would not stop water entering the tent whatsoever with the massive gaps between the velcro & the mesh outside is exactly that - mesh with holes for breath-ability. This is not even close to being waterproof. The water would get through the mesh & the velcro blinds with massive gaps would stop nothing & the inside of the tent would get soaked"
