Don't Buy from Velux
My roofer, a professional with 20 years of experience, purchased and installed two of the Velux skylights in my home in September 2022. Within a couple of days of the installation, I saw fogging and indications of moisture inside the window. (I have multiple photographs, which my roofers shared with Velux.) The skylights are supposed to be energy efficient, with argon or other gas between the double panels. In forwarding my email to Velux, the roofer requested that they get in touch with me directly. When a representative (Stacey) eventually contacted me, she just made excuses, saying that it must be condensation within my home. She was making this assessment long distance from Toronto, without sending anyone to check on the issue. I explained there was no fogging within my home, that I had lived here since 1991 and only had leaking with my previous skylight after many years (and never had fogging). Nor do I have fogging with any of my other windows, installed by other companies. I asked again for a technician to come to my home and diagnose the problem, a reasonable request. No response; so I called again, and Stacey said she would get back to me with a date that the technician would come. She never called back. When I made my last (and final) call to Stacey (who is presumably with the Toronto division of Velux), I was greeted with dead silence on the other end of the phone, punctuated only by the barking of a dog. Then she hung up on me. She never said anything. This is the company with which you will be dealing if you order windows in Canada. The person taking the calls can barely be heard and the dog is a recurrent feature of any effort to have a conversation with the Velux representative. On one occasion, my phone call was routed from Canada to Denmark, the location of the home office, and the person who answered was puzzled as to why I would be calling Denmark. I thought I must have made a mistake until I learned from Stacey that if she does not answer fast enough, the phone diverts to Denmark. I wish anyone luck who attempts to do business with this company.
