After a year with ProtonVPN plus, I decided to shop around. Nothing wrong with ProtonVPN service. I simply wanted to see what other options were out there. I only needed something with fair pricing that I could use on the odd public wifi or to watch streaming services from time to time.

After seeing a billion affiliate offers and Youtube influencers harp about the same "top vpns" ie NordicExpressCyberShark. All with these predatory annual renewal inflation fees in fine print, I got burned out with the search.

Until I stumbled on a Techlore article mentioning Windscribe as a solid option.

Anywho, I checked out their site, signed up for a Free account. Within 2 hours, I signed up for the Pro subscription, with a promo code which gave me a stellar annual price, a third of what I pay for Proton. And thats my price, every year. No future massive ballooning annual renewal.

It does exactly what I need from a VPN.
It doesn't promise these insane ultra anonymous claims that the 'influencer' VPNs constantly proclaim. And they do it for a reasonable price. Windscribe provides me exactly the service they claim to have. No BS.

I read a few people dismissing their tech support but I actually have the easiest time contacting help via Garry (AI Bot) and email support. Like within the day. They answered every question I had and helped me sort out integrating Wireguard with my lil travel router.

A solid company. Knowledgable, accessable tech support. Honest fair pricing, transparency and accountability. If you are looking for a daily VPN for your basic geolocation streaming and public wifi safety, Windscribe is a solid option.

Not so hidden bonus, they have a solid DNS filter (ROBERT) built in. And their browser extensions have some serious adblocking.

One of the most awesome VPNs I've used. Used their free service for years and used Paid for one year. Never had even 1 issue.

I realized this more as soon as I switched to FastestVPN (slow to non-e
xistent speed with frequent crashes within first few days)

The product works most of the time. When it doesn't, it usually means the ISP or IT network is blocking a simpler protocol and a tougher one needs to be used. Appreciate the free version giving high speed and full functionality, so that potential customer can try out the software properly before commiting to a purchase.
Wish they had better long term pricing like most other providers,or consistent price like Mullvad. You have to stalk Windscribe to catch them when they drop price to the industry average of 2.99/month.

Truthfully speaking windscribe seriously is one of the best top providers of vpn services. The basic or free vpn has R O BE R T that block ads ,porn, gambling and some social websites. Added to that there's apps tunnelling! Others don't give such for free!
Speed connect is good.Windscribe rarely crash.I recommend windscribe to others too

Pleasantly Surprised

Do not use Windscribe!

Do not use Windscribe!

It totally messed up my network!

I have a paid VPN in use on two Win10 desktop computers. I have a new Win11 laptop which is not connected to the paid VPN. That VPN will expire in March and I will not renew, so for now I decided to try Windscribe's free version on the Win11 laptop. After difficulty, I got Windscribe free installed and activated on the Win11 laptop.

Imagine my RAGE when I discovered Windscribe had ruined my network connection to the two Win10 computers! I tried to uninstall it from my laptop with Revouninstaller Pro, only to get the message I had to exit it first. Well, how to "exit" the POS? I had to research that. I found: log in to Windscribe account (I wasn't still logged in?), then under Security, delete both Delete Sessions and Delete VPN Creds. I clicked "Delete Sessions, at which time Delete VPN Creds disappeared. I logged in again. Both options were then available, but I clicked only Delete VPN Creds.

After all that crap, I was then able to uninstall Windscribe from my laptop with Revouninstaller Pro. The uninstall showed dozens of Windscribe's leftover crap in my laptop's registry, which Revouninstaller also deleted.

FYI - I also have an OLD laptop with Ubuntu 22 on it. I installed the Proton free version on it with NO network problems with my Win10 computers.

Great VPN. Awesome Team.

One of the most awesome VPNs I've used. Used their free service for years and used Paid for one year. Never had even 1 issue.

I realized this more as soon as I switched to FastestVPN (slow to non-existent speed with frequent crashes within first few days)

I'm shocked. I'd give 0*s if I could.

I'm shocked.

I've been a paid member since 2019.

In Nov 2024 I realised, quite by accident, that I'd been charged an annual subscription on a renewal around 10 days earlier.

1. I never signed up to an autorenewal of my membership
2. I was not notified of the intent to renew/bill my account

I reached out to customer support to request a refund.

The responses have been extremely curt, haven't dealt with the points and are just stating "doesn't meet refund policy". Before that they tried to win me back by asking why I wanted to cancel. I explained that it's nothing personal, but I have no use for a VPN anymore, and let's leave on good terms, etc. I engaged with a cun* called Nile. Not sure who Nile thinks he is.

So what's the refund policy? 1. Max use 10GB of data; and 2. refund request is within 7 days of billing.

So what's my case? My data use has apparently been 12.6GB. the days are about 10 since they billed me without my consent or knowledge.

I asked them to simply refund the amount (I believe it was a mere £39, after being with them for 5 years so they got a nice amount from me, yet they are purporting to rely on sneakily autorenewing customers and then refusing to refund as the customer wasn't even aware they were billed!)

I'm shocked at the appalling customer support and I'm even more shocked at the entirely unprofessional responses people have received from this company in here. I've honestly never seen such responses from a company. If I'd have ever seen them when taking out the VPN all those years ago, I wouldn't have!

I want to make clear that they chose the wrong guy to tango with. The refund WILL happen. And I'll go further, you WILL lose customers as a result of your behaviour today. So, I think your decision Nile was an extremely poor one.

Ps, as an aside, in terms of the product itself, as others have noted, this has been deteriorating for a long time now. Shockingly low speeds. Sending you on the run-around when there are issues.

Utter disgrace and shit company. Never do business with them.

I've relied on Windscribe as my primary VPN for over four years, and it has consistently performed well. I’ve never encountered any issues, despite using it frequently. I would definitely recommend Windscribe to anyone looking for a reliable VPN.

Emails are optional to use the service, and do not need to be provided. Windscribe has a free plan, as hundreds of reviews online clearly state. Robert Halterman is either a liar or an idiot. Probably both.
