I would like to share my experience with their HR team. They will approach you for an interview but then simply ghost you if you suggest any other date. After that, they dissappear like they have never existed. Then you try to reach out to them, they reject you. The communication is very poor and I highly doubt they provide any quality service.

Treatment of customers on the call center line is unprofessional. Snarky and sarcastic comments by the operator even though I waited 25 minutes on the call to have my question answered. I also tried reaching out via other methods (chat, email) but those were not helpful either.

Incompetent, rude, not helpful. Went to the offices at the Rossmarkt in Frankfurt. Clerk tried everything not to help. Told me to use the online banking app or use only real letters to communicate and request services from the bank. This bank is a digital nightmare and the ppl working there not ready to deal with clients face to face. It was horrible to experience their behavior and communication style. I will move on to another bank. Commerzbank is a shame!

Commerzbank: Where Rudeness Is a Core Value

Ah, Commerzbank. The shining beacon of customer service excellence... if excellence were defined by rudeness, condescension, and a steadfast commitment to making you regret ever reaching out.

I had the pleasure (read: nightmare) of dealing with Olaf from their online customer service. A name that conjures images of warm hugs and friendly snowmen but delivers the conversational equivalent of a winter blizzard. From the get-go, Olaf was curt, dismissive, and seemed to be personally offended by my existence.

After an unproductive exchange, I politely requested to speak to his supervisor—a reasonable request, right? Not in Olaf's world! He flatly refused, as if supervisors are mythical creatures that Commerzbank employees guard like the Holy Grail. I asked again, nicely. Refused. Again, firmly. Refused. The man has the determination of a toddler refusing vegetables.

When I politely (!) pointed out his rudeness, he took it to a new level: rudely denying that he was rude. The irony! I half expected him to send me a follow-up message saying, “Have a blessed day,” just to add that final passive-aggressive cherry on top.

This was, without question, the worst customer service experience I’ve had in years—and I’ve dealt with utility companies! Honestly, if the rumors of an Italian bank taking over Commerzbank are true, I say bring it on. How much worse could it possibly get? At least with Italians, I’d probably get a charming apology and a recipe for risotto.

💬 Frustrated with Commerzbank's Service…

💬 Frustrated with Commerzbank's Service 💬

I have been a customer of Commerzbank for several years, but my recent experiences have left me deeply dissatisfied. Here is a summary of the key issues:

1️⃣ Charges for a Supposedly Free Account:
I opened an account that was meant to be free (BasicKonto), yet I have been charged monthly fees comparable to those of a KlassikKonto. A few years ago, I reached out via email to request either a waiver of these fees or an upgrade to match the value of the charges. My request was ignored—there was no response whatsoever. In my home country, banks at least make an effort to engage with dissatisfied customers or provide a solution. Unfortunately, the level of indifference I’ve encountered here has been staggering.

2️⃣ Unresolved Premium Konto Application:
Five months ago, I applied for a Premium Konto and received both a confirmation of application and an Auftragsnummer. Since then, I have heard absolutely nothing—no updates, no decision, no communication of any kind. This lack of follow-up is highly unprofessional, particularly when it concerns a product that involves additional fees.

3️⃣ Customer Service Challenges:
Commerzbank has made contacting support increasingly difficult:

Branch account managers are no longer reachable via email (at least email address is not visible on letters anymore).
The chatbot on their website seems designed to prevent direct contact with a human representative.
Calling their support hotline is frustratingly inefficient. On Saturdays, meaningful support ends early, while weekday calls are met with long wait times, abrupt disconnections, or a notice that “too many calls” are being received—sometimes well before the advertised closing time.
When I finally reached an agent, the experience was even worse. Instead of apologizing for the 5-month delay on my application, I was told dismissively that I needed to reapply because the request had "expired." When I expressed my frustration, the agent’s attitude was condescending, as though my concern was unwarranted.
It is astonishing that a bank would neglect a customer who is actively seeking to upgrade their account and pay higher fees for better service. The lack of follow-up, poor communication, and dismissive attitude have made this an exhausting and frustrating experience.

If these issues are not addressed, I will strongly consider closing my account despite the inconvenience of updating my payment and salary information elsewhere.

This is not the standard of service one expects from a major financial institution. Please do better, Commerzbank.

Customer service is simply HORRIBLE

Customer service is simply HORRIBLE. I've been a client for 7 years now, and in many occasions I would be annoyed with their customer service, but this time even more. To block a card they say it's 24 hours and 7/7 days. I saw 10 transactions on my credit card that I didn't make all happened at once with over 1700 euros. I called the customer service and been on the waiting line for over 12 mins at midnight in the middle of the week.
Then the next day, I tried the live chat because I thought it would be faster.
Well spoiler alert, I started the live chat 30 mins ago and there is still not one single answer.

Now I'm seriously considering changing banks just because of their slow and bad customer service.

no help when I need help

Someone in the bank has set my account to be a business account instead of a private account which is their mistake, so I need to get that changed.

The staff in the banks branch can’t help me they told me I can get help on the app, but the app doesn’t work on my phone.

They gave me a phone number, but the automated bot doesn’t understand anything and I can’t get through to a human on the phone. I’m currently sat next to my phone, it’s been on hold for 22 minutes and still no humans have answered just an automated bot who doesn’t understand anything.

Commerzbank is terrible!

Terrible banking systems in 2024. There is absolutely no point working with them. Frees are extreme; customer support is rude, especially if you don't know German. As a salary holder at a bank, I've often found myself in terrible conditions thanks to Commerzbank. I can't take my money on time; I can not even send money on the weekends; there is no English customer support; it is a super slow and old-age app, and Phototan is everywhere. I mean, why the heck should I have to use another app login? Everything is a pain in this bank. I can not even close my account because they are even slower if you want to close. They give you a card that you can't shop online; they give you another card that you need to dream about using in anywhere. I've never seen any worse banking systems than the Commerzbank.

Horrid Service Borderline Molestation

I have had a Depotkonto (deposit account) with them for about 3 years now; EVERY single year, I have to personally come to one of their branches and beg them to give me the Steuerbeschenigung (tax certificate). It is mandated by law that they must send the certificate out to customers for tax report purposes, but they pretend EVERY year that it got lost somewhere via post.
Then, I wanted to cancel my bank account with them via post, but they said they didn't receive anything. Okay, fine...I came in person to submit the cancelation form, and they accepted it. A week later, they sent me a post mail saying that because my bank account is linked to my depot account, they cannot cancel it. Like....what the hell??? First of all, they could have checked it during the personal consultation. Secondly, in the cancelation form, there is a section where you state which banking account should be used in place of the soon-to-be canceled account. Thirdly, now I must once again go to them in person asking to first change my clearing account and then cancel my bank account because their online banking service DO NOT work. They advertise wonderful, comfortable online services, but they secretly block you from canceling your account or changing anything; you need to go there in person for anything to work. What a juice shop.

Ingolstadt

Fantastic personal customer service in Ingolstadt! The staff at the Ingolstadt branch was great with my banking needs. Every interaction has been professional, friendly, and efficient. They take the time to explain everything clearly and are always willing to help with any questions or concerns. The level of personal attention I’ve received is truly exceptional and makes banking with Commerzbank a great experience. For this reason my.5 stars

Terrible bank.

Terrible bank.
6 years ago was better than now.
The online supporters are rude. There are strange thing happening with your account and on top I asked for kontowechsel service in another bank and commerzbank terminated my account. Imagine that without even letting me know. They told me kontoservice is a termination and I said that there 2 different things) well it was funny. I do not recommend this bank + the usage of a master/visa card is 6-12 € per month

Customer service at your main branch in…

Customer service at your main branch in Munich, Promenadenplatz is insultingly poor.
The staff are very interested when large amounts of money appear on the account (two personal phone calls asking about my intentions for the cash) but when they learn that the money will be moved on, then we get an interview with one of the new, clueless advisors who is more interested in moving us on so he can disappoint his next client. L for a few daysne has the suspicion that the money is being withheld on purpose to skim a bit of interest over the weekend. (The advisor is sure that he can resolve the problem on Monday but not on Friday. There is no sound advice, there is no accountability, there is no professionalism. The older experienced advisors have been 'moved on'.

Worst experience ever

After 28 years of being a loyal customer with my salary going onto the account and later my pension, I was given notice and myxaccount was blocked in June! No reason, no cause. I was told it was their right and being a private, non government bank, they did not need to reason.
Living abroad really put me and my family in a spot. Had to borrow money to survive. After about 6 weeks, I finally got my money out....now atvthe DKB...great service. Friendly staff.
I can only say: Do not touch the Commerzbank ......worst experience ever!!! Deserve a 0...not even 1 star.
