We were a customer of The Home Service Club for a while made monthly payments but when we needed a repair on our dryer, paid the service fee of $75.00 and was told the window for the technician to arrive would be between 8am -4pm at 4:17pm I called the Home Service Club Warranty customer care center to report the problem that the technician never showed up for the repair or didn't call to reschedule. The representative asked me to give it more time. I explained to her respectfully ''I gave him 8hrs of my time'' and we need to reschedule. Well she gave me the phone number and the claim# to call Whirlpool directly and reschedule. Well come to find out the CLAIM# (from home Service Club) is absolutely useless!!!!! Whirlpool doesn't have anything to do with that claim# means NOTHING!!! So after talking to the Whirlpool Representative she was actually able to give me an actual extended warranty on my dryer for pennies a month, and if it can't be fixed they will buy me a new one. BASICALLY, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! I called the Home Service Club company back and have requested my $75.00 be refunded back into my account because I never received service to repair my dryer, I also have closed my policy with them since they can't do as they claim!!!! I will also be contacting the BBB to report them!!!

Researched home warranty companies and saw Home Service with good reviews decided to give them a try after 18 months with no claims, went through the proper protocals submitted a claim only to have the this company deny the claim for replacement of a heating element on furnace heater. This came during a time of inclement weather where I was unable to go back and forth hassling over a repair that is stated covered under their contract. They stated they denied my claim due to the HVAC being under manufacturer warranty only to find out the manufacturer did not warranty the HVAC because the unit was nearly 10 years old. This company robs and steals honest families and home owners money. This company will not be their for you in your time of need and are only out for the money. This company will transfer you back and forth then assign a case manager only to look for reasons to deny the claim. CONSUMER BEWARE AVOID AT ALL COST!!! CANCELLING MY HOME WARRANTY IMMEDIATELY!!!

I have been with this company for a few years, and every time I filed an issue, it was a struggle to get it resolved. Initially, I thought the problem was with the technicians, but eventually, I realized the real issue was with the Home Service Club itself.

This is a terrible company. They are only interested in taking your money and will find every excuse to deny coverage when you need it most. Recently, my water heater broke, and they didn’t send anyone for an entire week. Finally, with their permission, I had a local technician replace it, but they refused to reimburse the cost.

This is not a trustworthy company for your home needs. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them!

Choice Home Warranty (address Home Service Club of California, Inc, in San Diego) has no customer service unless you count the recorded message voice. If you try to cancel your warranty you are directed to leave your phone number to save your place in the cue. I’ve done this 4 times in the last 48 hours and no one has returned my calls.
I’ve tried calling other departments who have live people answer, but they won’t even listen and either transfer your call to Customer Service or actually hang-up on you!
I’ve NEVER been with any company that refuses to allow you to cancel their services. Why isn’t that illegal?!

HSC scam…

HSC sent Prosolutions Appliance Repair to repair our range. The problems are the con trol board is dead and a nut holding one burner knob in place is broken. The tech took pictures of our clean stovetop and oven and the label. He pulled the loose knob off to see the broken plastic nut. After making a phone call and speaking in a foreign language he determined the control board is also broken. Never did he pull the control board cover off to see if there is any obvious damage or do any testing. I gave him our $65 copay and he left.
Six days later I look at the HSC website and see they show an appointment has been scheduled only. They have no indication Prosolutions has been here. I called Prosolutions and the lady who answered the phone says "I'm working on yours now. Our techs pictures show you have grease buildup on your stovetop which HSC insurance doesn't cover. We are going to charge you $222 to clean your stove so we can make the needed repairs."
Next I filed a complaint with HSC. Their online system told me they would assign someone to my complaint and within 24 hours they would contact me with that person's contact information. 24 hours ended on Tuesday or later so I called Thursday to get contact information. I called that person to find out she supposedly emailed her contact info {not in spam folder either}. She reiterated they wouldn't repair the stove until it is cleaned by Prosolutions. She said she would forward the pictures to us which hasn't happened by Friday afternoon. The scam IS she won't accept photos from us that show the stovetop is clean!!

The Home Service Club inefficient and deceptive

If it were possible to give less than one star, I would have done that. The Home Service Club is both inefficient and deceptive. I called "The Home Service Club" to know if my bathroom exhaust fan was covered under my Warranty Contract. I was informed that it was covered, and they went further to create a claim for me. The claim/service was assigned to a company for Technician to come access and repair. As a result, I paid $75 for "service fee" when the assigned Technician reported at my property. The Technician just did visual inspection and promised to come back after obtaining approval from "The Home Service Club". However, to my utmost surprise and disappointment, I received an email from "The Home Service Club" in which they shamelessly stated, "After careful review, we regret to inform you that your claim is not covered".

Their Salespeople Are Inveterate Liars

After being assured that there would be no problem in finding techs to fix problems, my air conditioner issue went unresolved. HSC was completely uncaring and unreliable. Don't waste your time or your money. I've tried several home warranty companies, and this is the worst yet.

Good Luck Getting Paid!!!

Good Luck Getting Paid!!!
I'd give a zero star if possible....as a service provider, we have been trying to get paid since November, 2023. We have submitted no less than 20 attempts and get the run around. Impossible to get a human who can assist. What a scam. Contractors BEWARE!!

How to get duped

When I only could give 0 stars – Here’s why: In 10/3023 I bought 2 five-year HSC warranty contracts for 2 rentals. At one rental I filed a claim with HSC on Monday, January 8th 2024 in the morning, because the water heater seemed to be not working. A technician will contact me, HSC said. When NO technician contacted me, on Tuesday I called the technician’s company and asked, when they will inspect the water heater and the answer was: Friday. I told them that is not acceptable to have no hot water for so long in the winter. Finally, they sent a technician on Wednesday. Thursday, I asked HSC, they declined the claim because of corrosion. The technician told me, that he didn’t mention corrosion in his report. It is not acceptable to take so much time for a decision - and for no corrosion stated in the report. I canceled the contract. For the other rental I canceled the contract as well – with no claim, because I don’t need a contract for nothing. I paid for 2 five-year contracts for two rentals $3,899.70 and after only 3 month and no approved claim they only refunded $2,313.96. The difference is and I paid: $1,585.74. That’s why I can NOT recommend Home Service Club.

Poor and unethical claim service

We have the "Comprehensive Plan" home warranty policy with The Home Service Club / Choice Home Warranty. Had to replace our washing machine which was covered by the policy. Company agreed to pay the claim and that they would send us a check. We needed a new machine so went out immediately and bought one figuring we'd apply the claim settlement once we received the check. Check never came and instead we got an email a couple weeks later with an attached electronic gift card to Lowe's. We contacted Home Service Company (HSC) and they acknowledged it was their mistake that they didn't issue a check but that there was nothing they could do to change it. We them went to Lowe's but they would not accept the gift card as payment to our credit balance. After 4 or 5 more calls to HSC we continued to get the run around from every claim person we talked to and all of them refused to let us talk to a supervisor or manager and even suggested they don't have access to the address or phone numbers of their corporate offices. Horrible, horrible service! So now I'm stuck having to go buy something else from Lowe's if I want to be reimbursed for our claim. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Don't EVER purchase this insurance

This company does everything they can to deter your claim. There is a list of grievances but I'll just state the latest. I had the furnace looked at since it wouldn't turn on. After about two weeks I finally got someone they contacted to come by. They were able to get it going but said if it goes down again, it was the "mother board" (not sure the name. something like mother) that needed replacement. It did go down about a week later. I called HSC twice and each time was told they were going to OK the return of the heater company to finally get the "board"in, they still haven't done so. It's been another two weeks in the cold. The heating company themselves told me this is a common tactic to get you to terminate your contract when you might have years left on it. This is one of about four or five times I've struggled to get the work that they cover to be completed. My advice: DON'T EVER BUY THEIR INSURANCE.

Wish I could give them negative stars

Wish I could give them negative stars. Bunch of crooks. Don’t know how I fell for them. Absolutely ridiculous service. I already put in a cancellation as of today. They deducted whatever they paid me from my remaining refund. Any time you put in a request, it takes days and then send someone who is not experienced at all. And then deny your claim. This is their process. They claim best on their website for many years. B.S. Absolutely absurd.

HOME WARRANTY SERVICE CLUB IS THE WORST

DO NOT SIGN WITH ( THE HOME CLUB WARRANTY SERVICES).
ONE MONTH AGO OUR WASHER STOPPED WORKING. THEY KEPT PROMISING A TECHNICIAN WILL ARRIVE. SO FAR, IT IS JUST AN EMPTY PROMISE. THE WORST HOME WARRANTY INSURANCE I EVER DEALT WITH. AND THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. WHEN YOU CALL THEM, THEY TELL YOU HOW SORRY THEY ARE ABOUT YOUR SITUATION, THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT FIND A TECHNICIAN TO DO THE REPAIRS. THE QUESTION IS: IF A WARRANTY COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE TECHNICIANS TO DO THE REPAIRS, HOW DOES THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA ALLOW THEM TO BE LICENSED IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. THESE COMPANIES CHARGE CUSTOMERS THEIR MONTHLY FEE BUT, WHEN IT COMES TO REPAIRS, THEY ACT AS IF THEY DON'T KNOW YOU, AND THEY KNOW THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER TO ANY AUTHORITIES. I FILED WITH THE CALIFORNIA INSURANCE COMMISSIONER, THIS OFFICE IS JUST A NAME, THEY DON'T HAVE ANY AUTHORITY OVER SCAMMERS LIKE THESE WARRANTY COMPANIES.

Fraudulent Home Warranty Company - The Worst I have ever purchases

Customer Service
Claims Handling
Tech
Refunds & Payouts
Reviewed Oct. 26, 2023

I am a Real Estate Broker in WA State and Hawaii. I have purchased many home buyers warranties as closing gifts for my clients. I purchased a home buyers warranty for mechanical systems in my new home in Hilo, Hawaii. I have never filed a claim until ONE MONTH AGO! I have a clog in my plumbing system in my bathroom and I am unable to use the toilet, sink or shower. It has been 31 days since my claim was filed. I have called customer service every day only to be told they 'need more time to find a vendor'. I asked for a list of vendors they have tried to contact, but they refuse to provide me with the list of plumbing companies. Then my claim was closed without any notice to me. I had to re-open my claim on October 18, 2023. It has now been another 7 days of being told the same lies. My legally binding contract states that I a vendor will be assigned within 48 hours (max) of my claim. The Home Warranty Club is a fraudulent business. They took my money and have breached our contract by not providing me services I paid for in full on November 30, 2022. I have tried to speak with a supervisor, only to be told they don't have any way to transfer me to a supervisor. More lies. My situation is dire and I will likely end of having to hire my own plumbing contractor. I have asked for a refund of my contract, again told from customer service that they don't have the "ability" to do refunds. I am so frustrated and feel horrible that I have purchased several of the home warranties with The Home Service Club for my Buyers as closing gifts. They will likely have the same run-around based on the dozens of horrific reviews on this platform. DO NOT PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY FROM THE HOME CLUB. You may as well light $500 on fire, because this company is a SCAM!

Absolutely the WORST warranty company.

Absolutely the WORST warranty company.
Beware they will never repair your appliance. They checked my refrigerator after a service request and 'diagnosed' in less than five minutes. Promised to return with parts that never happened till date. It seems they have blacklisted our phone number as it goes straight to the voicemail and no one responds. So I end up losing $95.
Same thing happened with the request for broken shower repair. Diagnosed, promised to return with parts collected his co-payment and never showed up again. After more than 25 calls and I have given up.
Their call center is a joke with continuous wait time and then you are cut off. You leave call back number and no one calls back. Frustrated and angry, I filed a complaint with BBB and contemplating to file a lawsuit in small claims court soon.
You can't even cancel this policy and get reimbursed.
Please do not waste your money with this SCAM warranty company. They just take your money and hardly respond to your complaints and hardly cover anything when time comes for repairs.

Company does NOT pay contractors

Company does NOT pay contractors. Do not work for Choice, Home Service Club, Home Warranty of America or their new company name Rely Home. They gave my company authorization to make a repair for $765 but only paid $165 on the invoice. When I inquired they closed my contractor account and placed payments for all outstanding invoices on hold for 180 days. It has now been over a year and they say the policy is 365 days before they will escalate my payment request and 6-12 months before a possible resolution. This company scams homeowners out of money for contracts and contractors out of HARD earned money. I have paid out for technicians labor and parts to perform services for them that I will likely never be paid for. We are talking thousands of dollars.

They underwrite Choice Home Warrant in…

They underwrite Choice Home Warranty in California. Both Home Service Club and Choice are scams. I requested service for covered item. They did not find a provider and emailed that I could find one and that they would reimburse minuse the service fee. Lies, scam, and thief's. Thr provider provided some info saying he did not work for these crooks. Claim denied within 5 minutes. Of course appeal was no better. In California Choice is licensed by Home Service Club. Scammers——-Do Not Buy ——- This will be referred to Attorney General's office in California. See Arizona Class Action Suit against Choice. Scammers and bullies. I will not tolerate this manipulation. I paid 875.00 for the service and 1700 for a multi year plan for nothing. What’s up Home Service Club and Choice Home warranty??? Business model- Promise a lot, and deny coverage as much as possible. Truly reprehensible!

Stay Far Far Away, One of the worst companies I have ever…

One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I was with them for 9 years. I had a negative experience with them back in 2018. Overall 3 weeks in Florida to get my Air Conditioner serviced. It was rectified by the management team and I was assured new management would make sure this never happened again. Two weeks ago my pool pump went up and I placed a claim. Two weeks and many calls (by me) later there was still no response. I called and asked what was going on and told they could not find a pool tech (remember this is Florida) in my area. I requested a cancellation of contract and a refund. They cancelled my contract immediately and stated there would be no refund. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told I have no contract anymore and that there was no need to speak to a supervisor. Stay far far away from this company.
