I emailed my claims adjuster FIVE TIMES and left her voicemail 3 times with no response back. I had to chase her for months for a simple phone call back. I filed 2 complaints asking for a new claims adjuster which they never gave me. Wawanesa sent me a survey, and when I said it was terrible customer service, all they said was “sorry”. No compensation for the hours of my time wasted. They also keep raising their rates. Definitely going with a different company next year.

Still waiting for Wawanesa to send me the refund of house insurance I had to pay for a house I sold in October. All I get is “cheque is in the mail” or “no we cannot possibly refund to you in any way like direct deposit” or “no, we absolutely cannot send your money to you by pre-paid courier”. They are a disgrace.

I have been with this company for 4 years. It was all good until the last few months.
I was involved in an accident in September of 2023. I accept that I was the one at fault. Wawanesa got my
car fixed.
Claim number 2. My car was stolen and I got it back with minor damage. They fixed it.
Claim number 3. Me and my wife were in a supermarket shopping and came out to find our car had been hit. I contacted the insurance company and got a repair estimate of just under $3000. I was told they considered it to be a hit and run and to get it fixed. So far I have not done so, the claim is incomplete and no money has been spent.
Now, about a month ago I had to renew my insurance but I got a notice, by email, that my comprehensive coverage had been cancelled because of 3 claims in 1 year. It did not matter that 2 of the 3 had been deemed not my fault. I contacted my broker who agreed with me that I shouldn't be held responsible for this. Wawanesa would not bend. They offered to give me back my comprehensive at an increased rate with a $2500 deductible.
My broker is a national company who is fighting this insurance company on my behalf to try to get a resolution. What I don't understand is why I'm being held responsible for 2 claims that weren't my fault. I'm now waiting for my broker to get back to me.
If they are not able to resolve this I will go to plan "B". The insurance company is willing to cover the hit and run and get my car fixed, but will not bend on the bigger issue. If I have to I will take up the offer to get the repair done and get the claim completed. Once that is done I will have to give up my comprehensive for 6 years, something my broker is trying to find a work around for. Then I will tell Wawanesa to go straight to hell and move to another company. I will also terminate my home insurance with this crooked company.
Bye bye Wawanesa, you can get down on your knees and kiss my***

Wawanesa has abandoned the people of the North End. They reject every claim. My poor elderly mother has bought in excess of $100,000 throughout her lifetime of insurance they have rejected all her claims. I am cancelling the insurance because having Wawamesa is like having no insurance anyway.

My house insurance went up $600 with Wawanesa within a 2 year period. Was with them for 18 years!! NOT ONE CLAIM on my house! NOT ONE!!
My account with Wawanesa was up to date! NEVER missed a payement.
I found another company saving me $600 A YEAR!!!
I cancelled with Wawanesa. I got a letter today stating I owe them $205.00!
My payments were up to date. They are charging me this because I cancelled.
Unreal!

Bad faith

I have had my car insured by wawanesa for almost 6 years. I have probably paid for my car twice over just in insurance payments. I was unfortunate enough to have to submit a claim for damages on my vehicle. The level of neglect and lack of care displayed by wawanesa is astounding. It takes 3-5 business days to even receive a response from them after sending an email and it seems like the insurance adjuster handling my claim has only worked there for a day. Insurance is supposed to give you peace of mind that if something bad happens, you are covered. All this experience has brought me is stress and frustration. I feel like no one is on my side during this and I am fighting with wawanesa and the auto body shop to get anything done. They will gladly take your money month after month but when it comes time to actually use your insurance they will screw you around and delay as much as possible. As soon as my claim is settled I am going to one of their competitors because wawanesa does not act in good faith. They have an obligation to uphold and they fail to do so. They have 25 more days to settle my claim before I go to a lawyer and talk about suing them for bad faith. It’s silly but it seems suing them is the only way.

Thieves

They have policies not declared to the client during the contract process. These policies are located online and are not referenced under any policy package they provide the customer. Wawaneesa hides behind these policies, to directly steal from your account, this is theft of the insured. Communication is deplorable, and the ombudsman group is pathetic and untrustworthy. I highly recommend you search for a quality insurer. They only got one star because I can't rate a lower experience.

This company is corrupt

This company is corrupt! They went into my medical records without my knowledge and permission. They ignore medical sent to them. They don't return emails and phone calls to even my physiotherapist. Run! Don't go to this company. Adjuster Nadia Archambault needs to be locked up in a jail cell. She is a big scammer! Run in the other direction from this two faced you know what. Total fraudulent company.

My partner filed a claim for a broken headlight and has had nothing but pushback. The agent is not answering his calls. He found a reasonable mechanic but they would not approve and wanted him to take it to a place a 100km away. Everything was submitted as requested but now he is getting nowhere with them.

If I could rate less than 1 star I…

If I could rate less than 1 star I definitely could and would. Company is an absolute joke. I got my car stolen, a month later they give an offer which is normal but I was not happy with the offer so I sent over comparables which were very very fair, took a full week to reply with no better offer. So I sent more comparables and again, a week later I finally get a response but it’s only because I followed up to the agent that was dealing with the claim. Not only was the offer a slap in the face, but the communication between the agent and myself, the agent had no will or respect and reply to my emails on a timely manner. I will not recommend this company to anyone and if someone asks I will tell them to run, run far far away!

Raising rates by 45%

Raised my rates less than a year with them to 45% increase. No accidents or anything. They are trying to get rid of California policy holders…

Absolutely horrible! Do not use!

Absolutely horrible! Staff are negligent and incompetent. I had no choice to deal with this company since it bought out the insurer providing my coverage shortly after filing my claim. While the claim process with the previous company was smooth, the handling of matters regarding the claim over the 3.5 years since has been a nightmare of constant hurdles and battles. At this point, I expect I’ll have to take Wawanesa to court to get what I’m owed. My guess is that is what they count on: either a claimant will give up or die before proceeding with legal action.

USELESS!!!

Almost two and a half month left since collision happens. They can not do anything to go my claim further.
1. The cab’s driver fault 100%
2. The cab has a camera recording.
3. Cameras on intersection
And still liability can not be settled
Insane!!!
Waiting for a few days for the response from broker.
For what I’m paying every month?
For a piece of paper with my name on it?

Avoid this company!

Great company, until you need to summit a claim. Avoid this company at all cost! There adjusters are terrible to deal with and low ball everything! Expect to have nothing explained to you and some threats tossed in just for added stress. Report them to the FSCO when this happens to you, and it will.

Horrible company

Horrible company. They refused to honor my claim until I got an attorney who pointed out which laws they were breaking in bad faith since I was hit while stationary by their driver.I had to pay out of pocket while they "investigated" for 6 months and the attorney got a percentage of the eventual settlement for my injuries all because they wanted to avoid responsibility. Adjuster never seemed to receive my calls and tried to BS my attorney about not receiving letter we had proof of service for. Dishonest and incompetent.
