Turn everyday habits into climate wins in 2025

Let’s start 2025 on the right foot.

Number 2025 with climate action activities

This year, make climate wins part of your routine. Here are five easy ways to get started!

1. Transform your travel

Can you make cycling, walking or using public transport part of your day? These options can give you a chance to exercise, read, work or catch some extra sleep while commuting by train or bus – and help you avoid parking hassles!

Transport is one of the biggest sources of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe, so your actions have a real impact. You can also help make sustainable choices easier for everyone, for example by advocating for bike parking spaces at your workplace or safe footpaths in your neighbourhood.

2. Not using it? Turn it off!

Make it a habit to turn off lights, appliances and devices when you’re not using them. The cheapest energy is the energy we don’t use!

While renewable and clean energy use is on the rise, Europe still relies on fossil fuels for a lot of our energy, releasing air pollutants and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Managing our energy use is one of the simplest, most cost-effective ways to take climate action. If you’re already doing that, why not switch to an energy provider that prioritises renewable energy sources?

3. Get creative in the kitchen

Challenge yourself to try new plant-based recipes, explore seasonal, local produce, and limit your food waste by being smart about your meal planning and repurposing leftovers. You can also involve your community by organising a climate-friendly potluck meal.

These steps not only cut down on emissions from food production, transport and storage, but also bring health benefits and greater freshness, flavour and variety to your meals.

4. Reuse, repurpose and reap the rewards!

It’s not just our food that can be repurposed! Save money by getting inventive with what you already own before heading to the shops for new items. Consider participating in a ‘no spend’ challenge or other ways to team up for thrifty inspiration.

To further reduce your impact on the environment, opt for items with minimal packaging when you’re shopping and reuse bags and containers. Mend or donate clothing rather than throwing it away. Explore second-hand shops and creative upcycling projects to give new life to pre-loved items.

5. Spread the word about climate action

Got a great idea to take your climate action further? Make sure you share it! The more people on board, the bigger the impact.

Whether it’s rolling up your sleeves for beach or river clean-ups, or sparking meaningful discussions about climate topics, everyone can do something. Join a local climate action group or start a new one to connect, collaborate and stay motivated.

Make this year mean something!

By finding what works for you, you’ll see how easy it is to update your routine and make a difference for your health, wallet and the environment.
