Calls for proposals

Open calls

On 3 December 2024, the Commission launched 2 calls for proposals and an auction under the Innovation Fund:

  • IF24 Call with €2.4 billion available for Net-Zero technologies
  • IF24 Battery with €1 billion available for electric vehicle battery cell manufacturing

The calls, funded by revenues from the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), aim to strengthen Europe’s manufacturing capacity, technological leadership, and supply chain resilience.

They are part of our commitment to achieving Europe’s sustainable prosperity and competitiveness.

Previous calls

IF23 Call & Auction

The Commission launched the IF23 Call for Net-Zero technologies on 23 November 2023. By the end of 2024, 85 projects were selected to receive €4.8 billion in grants. These projects plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 476 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent over their first ten years of operation.

On the same day, the Commission also launched the IF23 Auction, the first EU-wide auction for the production of renewable or RFNBO (renewable fuel of non-biological origin) hydrogen. 7 projects were selected to receive €720 million in project support. By the end of 2024, 6 out of 7 selected projects had signed their grant agreements, receiving a total of around €694 million.
