A civil lawsuit was filed earlier this month against a Florida dentist convicted of inappropriately touching one of his employees.

Last November,Dr. Charles Stamitoleswassentenced to nine months in jail for a misdemeanor battery charge, involving Stamitoles inappropriately touching an employee.

That employee, Caroline West, filed a civil suit on Aug. 10 seeking over $100,000 in damages from Stamitoles and his wife Faye.

The suit claims West suffered severe mental and emotional distress. It goes on to say the working conditions were "hostile" and forced her to quit her job.

West is requesting a trial by jury.

Stamitoles is expected back in court in two weeks on a felony perjury charge, for allegations that he lied to the court about why he violated his conditions of release in January.

Stamitoles initially claimed he had an urgent situation which required him to rush to Mobile, saying his adult son forgot his wallet. The state claims he lied to the court and instead left the state with his wife to buy a Porsche.

Stamitoles also pleaded no contest in January to four charges that he inappropriately touched three of his patients. He was sentenced to eight more months in jail,60 days in jail for each charge.

The Florida Board of Dentistry revoked Dr. Charles Stamitoles' dental licensein March after a request from the Florida Department of Health.
