14th meeting of the EU Platform on Food losses and Food Waste

The European Commission is pleased to invite you to the meeting of the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste, which will take place on 7 and 8 November 2023 in Brussels. 

The meeting will be divided into two parts: 

• the first part with the participation of 140+ citizens from the European Citizens’ panel on food waste (morning session on 7 November). Citizens will present their recommendations for action in food waste prevention and exchange with key players in Member States and across the food value chain on how to step up action in order to reach the Sustainable Development Goal Target 12.3.
• the second part (afternoon session on 7 November and all day on 8 November) will focus on global developments presented by international organisations and the EU’s progress towards the global goal. The 8th of November will be dedicated to exchanges with members about their progress towards the global targets and the support needed to help reach them as well as an update on the work of the Platform’s subgroups and on related EU policy files. 

The meeting will be chaired by Klaus Berend, Director Food safety, sustainability, and innovation, Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE). On the first day, Sandra Gallina, Director General (DG SANTE) will deliver opening remarks to citizens and Platform members.
