CloseThis event has ended. On 13 June 2024, the Directive promoting the repair of goods was adopted. It is applicable from 31 July 2026. The Directive sets out an obligation to repair for manufacturers of goods for which repairability requirements exist in EU law and which are listed in Annex II of the Directive (e.g. TVs, smartphones, washing machines). It also extends the legal guarantee period for an additional year if the consumer chooses to repair the defective product instead of replacing it. The purpose of the workshop is to exchange with the stakeholders on the practical implementation of the new rules. In addition, the Directive requires the Commission to develop an EU online repair platform, that must be operational by 31 July 2027. The workshop will give an opportunity to stakeholders to express their views on how the platform should function in order to maximise its potential for both repairers and consumers.Registration via the link provided above is mandatory for all participants. We also invite stakeholders to indicate in the registration form any specific questions or points of interest they may have. A video-conference (Webex) link will be provided by e-mail to the registered participants prior to the event. The slides from this workshop are available here. consumer policy | right to repair | consumer law Tuesday 12 November 2024, 14:00 - 16:00 (CET) Programme 12 Nov 2024, 14:00 - 16:00 (CET)Right to Repair Stakeholder WorkshopGeneral presentation by the Commission of the Directive on promoting the repair of goodsQ&A pertaining to the consumer’s rights and trader’s obligations Presentation by the Commission on the development of the EU online repair platformQ&A and feedback on the platform Practical information WhenTuesday 12 November 2024, 14:00 - 16:00 (CET)Who should attendAll stakeholders interested in the repair of consumer goods.
