To engage with stakeholders on the present and future of the EU budget, the Commission's budget department organises different events. This includes our flagship Annual EU Budget Conference, which takes place once a year, our regular EU Budget Talks.

Annual EU Budget Conference

The Annual EU Budget Conference is the flagship event on the EU budget, past, present and future. 

The event brings together high-level speakers - European and global policymakers, researchers, representatives of think tanks, civil society and businesses leaders - who debate a broad range of topical questions in a lively, open and inclusive discussion, to which the wider audience is invited to contribute. 

The topics cover issues of relevance to the EU budget, such as the budget’s future, Europe’s geopolitical role, strategic autonomy, energy independence and more.

EU Budget Talks

To discuss and bring together people interested in the EU budget, we regularly organise EU Budget Talks. These events are by invitation only so should you wish to attend, please send us an email.

These virtual events usually feature the presentation of at least one key policy paper on the EU budget (often by BUDG staff but also by speakers from other institutions) and a panel debate with several invited speakers. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions during the entirety of the event.

Occasionally, the European Commission is involved with other events that contribute to the debate surrounding the EU budget.
