Wonder how many retirees here tied their CD investments to a longer term ( 7 - 10 years ) when interest rates paid were at their highest ? I did because I know that what goes up can come down and now it seems to be going down.
However, Iโm not sure that we are gonna see another 50 basis point reduction before the end of 2024 as the article states. Thatโs gonna depend on what happens with the inflation and employment numbers in the next couple of months.
I am a very old person that is NOT concerned about the rate of interest I pay out because I have no debt but I am very much concerned about the interest rate I earn because even though it is heavily taxed, it is still part of my retirement earnings and that may affect all of us because, the less money I make, the less taxes I pay - and that my fellow older folks might affect some of the benefits you are getting.
Lol @wilful , thanks for the "chuckle" ๐คฃ๐ NOW we have age 18+ AARP members. WE are old!!! ๐๐๐
