I didn't sleep well last night and it triggered a creepy migraine today. I hate giving in to it so I'm fighting it the best I can. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

โ™ป๏ธ  [Thursday 9/5/24 10:51am ET]

Okay guys, I MISS YOU ALL!!!

Since we are NO longer allowed to continue with Our Daily Chat Thread here in the Grief Forum - AARP had suggested STARTING one in their Friends & Family Forum.

Lol, I had told them NO ONE posts there anymore and forum has died over the years.  ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

But, how about we give it a try???

Any takers???

I am heading out to library down my hill to hopefully hand wash my car in PEACE. Yes, need me some of that. Here at apartment way too many folks want to borrow my ears. NOT TODAY.

I am heading to PM the Grief Team (well, before we disbanded last month due to new rules).

I can set up a NEW THREAD there for us to CONTINUE to nurture each other on Our Healing Journeys!!!  ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Luv you ALL my friends,

@Winter2024

I am sure that you will make a success of it with your dedication and spirit.

You mentioned a couple of words in a post not too long ago concerning going to the Friends and Family board with this sort of discussion. I thought these two word captured exactly what you and others here are trying to accomplish - the words were โ€œMOVING FORWARDโ€, I believe, and it is an important aspect of life after loss - a more long term quest whether emotional, mentally, physically, logistically or just those everyday decisions that have to be made.

Think you said it well here on 08/29/2024 (7:42 pm)

Found out TODAY I have pre-diabetes and need to exercise and do a Mediterrean diet.  ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

So between GRIEVING - slum landlord, I need to figure out WHERE to move to. This move will help me with my grieving, depression and anger. Thanks for asking dear friend.

Sorry to hear, Nicole. I think the problems bring the grieving out again. We may remember loved ones who helped us with certain things. Maybe a grandmother who prepared good food for us. Or a loved one who could fix cars and washing machines. Especially when they break all at once. But those people aren't there anymore. And we have to trust what we got to work with. Times like this make me feel all at odds. I'm looking for that support that isn't there. Even a partner or spouse that was terminally ill was still a source of emotional support in some way or other. Even if it was in remembrance of what they once were. All the stuff, the decisions can be exhausting. Why do they have to happen all at once. Lol.

I am laughing NOW MC @mc6844 as being prediabetic, I had to give up my weekly ice cream and cake.  ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

It was NOT FUNNY when my doctor told me.

Anyway, I did READ online and TODAY at Kroger I picked up some plain greek yogurt  ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ  and my usual bananas. I figured THIS TIME I will slice up the banana and add to yogurt. Usually I get the FLAVORED yogurt and eat banana separetly.

SO GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU!!!  ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Luv you my friend,

Nicole  ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—  and  ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

I love a smoothie that I make with ยฝ of a frozen banana, frozen strawberries, peaches, or mango, cottage cheese, and almond milk. I throw in a few ice cubes and mix it in a Ninja. It is just like soft serve ice cream for me! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ˜‹

Great for self-care and comfort!

Thank You Marcy.  Went to the store to buy all the ingredients.  Your saying it is just like soft serve ice cream was the trick for me.  I LOVE soft serve ice cream.  ๐Ÿ˜

To make it like ice cream, I use half of a frozen banana, ยฝ cup of frozen fruit, ยฝ cup of cottage cheese, about five small ice cubes, and a small amount of almond milk (maybe a half cup?). If it is too thick I add a little more milk.

Sound really good Marcy. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I like mango. My favorite drink is water with lemon and ice cubes and a touch of sugar. Good nutrition is a form of self care. It seems to drain the body when people go through loss.

Thanks Marcy @MarcyW882921 , NEVER tried Almond Milk!!!  ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I am also looking at Kroger coupons (well, let's say I started to  ๐Ÿ™„)  with part 2 scheduled for FRIDAY.

Been LAZY, but time to get SERIOUS about self care.

I HOPE your migraines are either gone or reduced dear friend.

Keep on with the fruit and yogurt. And no, it isn't funny when Drs tell us these things. I give you credit for applying the Mediterranean diet. I look for no sugar ice cream. Don't know if that's allowed.

Thanks MC @mc6844 . I am sure the NO SUGAR ice cream (VERY EXPENSIVE) would be allowed but I have ONLY Social Security coming in. Been homeless back in 2017 at age 59 when my job hours got cut while other businesses closed here in Virginia. After that 13 months of staying at a Rescue Mission and saving $5,000.00 to buy my 2006 Hyundai Elantra for $2,500.00, moving into this Studio Apt in 2018 - NOW at age 66 in 2024, so NEVER want to repeat that. So I have a want and need list. Lol, the want list no longer exists as my rent goes up EVERY year. GRATEFUL the other old lady (the car  ๐Ÿ™„)  is still running.  ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Sad that JUNK is cheaper than HEALTHY.

My Medicare doctor is the one who suggested the diet.

Going to Walmart TODAY and will see WHAT options they have. Kroger YESTERDAY was my Cash In my $1/$2 lottery scratch-off tickets. Spend $6 each MONDAY. Gets me out of my apt and I get to see my pal David (fellow old person) at their Customer Service counter. They have MORE to offer but their PRICES!!!  ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

So I normally DO NOT shop there.

Luv you my friend,

Nicole  ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—
