iPhone 16 Pro Battery Draining Quickly

Iphone 16 pro battery seems so poor. I unplugged my phone at 9:15 am and by 4pm it had only 32% with 3hrs of screen time. I did my 0.5gb update hoping it will extend baterry life and upgrade functionality of my iPhone.

How is it possible? Anyone experiencing bad battery life as well?

Sir . The thing that you are telling to everyone that background app we’re using battery is not true . And if Instagram and Snapchat is using all the battery in ver less time then this problem is facing in all iPhone 16 pro and other iPhone but this baterry drainage problem is related to iPhone not with Instagram so don’t blame Instagram and other apps if they were reason then all iPhone have this problem but only few iPhone have battery draining problem . Soo if u are not having reason kindly get me apple customer care number

See for yourself. It is not that difficult to remove those apps and compare your battery usage. Those that have done that have seen a dramatic improvement in their battery performance. Each persons Social Graph is different and will have data points consuming the battery where others will not and also the apps have been updated 11 times in the last month so there is no comparison with the version numbers. The same has been reported on devices other than the iPhone 16 with the latest updates and it is even in the Google support forum showing Instagram as the problem on Android phones.

That is your basic troubleshooting step that has not been done and simply arguing over if they are responsible is not the way you are going to find a solution. If you are simply looking for a contact number for Apple, that is easy and they will have you perform those same steps or more likely a Factory Reset without loading any of those apps. Here you go:

I’ve an iPhone 16 PM and have none of those issues. I routinely get 8 to 10 hours of screen time a day. At the end of the day I’ll have 20+% capacity left.

If you haven’t already done so, update to iOS 18.3 that was just released 2 days ago. If the issues continue contact Apple support for service. If you’re in the US please call  1-800-MY-APPLE or outside the US, consult the support articles below.

Hi, you’re not the only person that’s been a caregiver to loved ones with dementia/Alzheimers.

I understand the frustrations and exhaustion it causes. I understand your time is precious and these aren’t the kind of issues you want to spend your valuable time on. But unless you tackle the challenge the issue will only gradually fix itself over time.

I purchased a new iPhone 16 and had the same issue. I discovered the background app refresh defaulted back to all apps again.

Background App Refresh on an iPhone allows apps to update and check for new content in the background, even when you're not using them. To turn on (or off) Background App Refresh, you can:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Select General
  3. Tap Background App Refresh

I only have a few apps I would like to refresh in the background so I turned the other 100 or so off. Battery life increased dramatically.

I bought 16 pro max almost 10 days ago and it was working fine but from today mu battery facing drain issue without heavy use. I lost 35% of battery in less than 3 hours without heavy usage. Too much irritating thing. Tell me the solution

After reading this post, what steps have you tried?

  • Reset using computer
  • Force Restart phone
  • Removed the known apps that have caused the problem and compared your results
  • Taken it to Apple for diagnostics

If you have tried those steps and you still find it irritating, I would suggest that you return the phone. In most regions you have 14 days, and you should not keep a device that you are having trouble with.

So did anybody find any solution for this or we just have to wait for Apple to fix it?
Because I have iPhone 16 Pro brand new two weeks old maybe 3 and my 6 years old iPhone 11 has almost like equal battery life to the 16 pro that’s crazy.

There are some in this thread that have fixed it and other similar threads as well. Here is the post provided by neutro_phill:

Update 2: My battery life has improved significantly on the 3rd day. Only charging it overnight (with nightstand on). It’s 11 am here and my battery level is 93%. Ending my participation here in the thread and all the best to you all. Keep it charging all night.

Not sure if you have tried any of the other solutions provided, but these are the most common:

  • Remove Facebook and WhatsApp, then compare your results. These apps from Meta have been running background processes consuming your battery even when not using the apps.
  • Reset iPhone using a computer

You have the exact apps that have been the cause of the battery draining that has been reported here and it will continue until those developers update their apps or the user quit using them to force a change. The Screen Time only reflects when you are using the apps, but the apps are using you after they have been closed.

  • Instagram
  • SnapChat
  • WhatsApp

The background processes those apps run continue even when you are not using those apps and they are free to use because they are gathering a tremendous amount of data from your activities to build a Social Graph to target specific ads to you. The data it is collecting could be listed here, but frankly it would span a whole page for those 3 apps. You can view the information yourself by viewing the Privacy Page for each app in the App Store. How do you think they make billions in revenue when you are not paying them anything to use the service. You are the product.

The test is simple, remove them and you will have all day battery life. Apple gives you that page to identify the energy hogs, so now it is up to you what you do with that information. If using the apps is more important to you than the reduction of battery life, then that is a choice you make. The solution for bugs or performance issues with apps is to contact the developer or don't use the app.

Sir, my iPhone battery is draining 1 % in 4 minutes of usage even sometime 3 mintutes without using intragram just simple browsing and battery decreases in every 3 - 4 minutes 1 % this is problem with iPhone not with intagram and so all if I am not using that iPhones battery is decreasing 1% in 3-4 mitnutes

It makes no difference if you are using Instagram or not. The app is consuming the battery in the background just from the activities you are doing on the phone. You can continue to complain about it, but you have been given all the information and simply refuse to remove those apps to test your battery usage then. Instagram is just one of the apps and your problem is compounded with the addition of the others. Take for example the information Instagram is gathering on you whether you are currently using the app or not. This is available on the Privacy Page for Instagram in the App Store.

Hello

True that 16 Pro battery is not ideal. But my situation has slightly improved I did two things:

  1. I switched off background refresh for all apps, and
  2. completely drained of the battery and 30 minutes later I charged it to full 100%.

it has improved but it is still not very good. If you do Any photo and video recording it doesn’t last a full day. iPhone 16Pro is a Huge disappointment.

Yup -- because a caregiver for a parent with dementia really has time for that with a brand new phone.

Ok, I will make it simple. Remove any app from Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, etc) and compare your results. Meta has acknowledged that there apps have an issue with battery draining and affects all phones, including Android phones. They have attempted to resolve the problem, but it obviously has not been fixed. I highlighted the important points from the article below to save you the time of reading it.

  • Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps for iOS and Android devices consume a lot of battery life. Besides complaints from people worldwide, authorities and analysts conducted tests. They affirmed that both are battery hogs even when the apps aren't in use.
  • Facebook acknowledged this problem and partly fixed it. However, the solution doesn't seem to be satisfactory.
  • It is suspected that there are other problems related to the app running in the background.
  • A better option, performance-wise, is to uninstall the Facebook and Messenger apps and use a browser to access your Facebook account. It will work just like on your computer.
