playing downloaded music from my iphone on dynamix music app

I use dynamix music to download music to the app. After the new software version 18 was installed I can no longer play my previously downloaded purchased music. The app works but will not play the music. Dynamix went out of business so there is no way to contact them. What can I do? The app is utilizing data. The data is on my phone but for some reason is not coming through.

iPhone 11, iOS 18

If the music is visible only in that app, be sure NOT to delete that app until

  • You have recovered the music, and backed it up elsewhere, or
  • You have given up on all recovery efforts

On the iPhone, if you completely delete an app, that will remove all of its private data – which in this case, could include all of the music you are trying to save!

The "we are closing our doors" notice on the DynamixMusic site says that they have "a large selection of albums and singles available on Apple Music" – and as of right now, it looks like there are Dynamix tracks available in the iTunes Store (for purchase) and on the Apple Music streaming subscription service.

As far as previously-purchased music, are you saying that

  • The app downloaded it to its own area (rather than to your Music library), and that
  • The music might be in some proprietary and/or DRM-infested format?

If the music is in non-DRMed MP3 or AAC format, but is stored in an area associated with the app (i.e., it isn't in the Music library), I don't know if you might be able to "pry the song files out" with the aid of

  • The Files app (on the iPhone)
  • The Finder / iTunes / Apple Devices (on a Mac or PC)
  • A third-party iPhone management application (like iMazing)

and then import them to a Mac or PC for manual synchronization to the Music library on the iPhone. That might be something you want to ask Dynamix about.

If it is in some proprietary format or has DRM, you might be up the creek without a paddle.

Dear NLW22, I am all about finding a solution to this problem. It apparently is pervasive and not just related to Dynamix:

Apple update 18.2 may block downloaded music from playing due to the following reasons123:

  • Inconsistent network settings: Try switching between Wi-Fi and cellular data.
  • Glitch in the app: Delete and re-add the song or album in the Music app.
  • Network settings need to be reset: Clear out bugs or glitches with your connection by resetting your network settings.

I read in another discussion that Apple Music problems are occurring due to the 18.2 update and it's a common issue. Customer Service has helped others recover their music.

I hope this is helpful.

I just discovered this very issue this morning when I attempted to start my class and the music simply did not play. I had an idea this had to do with the new update to 18.2, which is now impossible to remove from my phone and making my life miserable. I have contact the email address at DynamixMusic: Dynamix@dynamixmusic.com a few times today via email but not sure if it's monitored.

I would gladly pay a fee to have access to my downloaded music.... I anxiously await some new information here. Thank you for starting this discussion.

So you're blaming Apple because the developer of a 3rd party app abandoned their product?
