My Apple Watch Series 10 is not measuring my wrist temperature

Had my Watch10 for around month now & despite my Watch saying in the vitals app when I first got it ‘5 Sleep Sessions Needed’ it’s still showing this after a months use?

This feature was one of the reasons I upgraded from my Watch6 so disappointing I can’t get it to read. The vitals app recognised I was ill a couple of weeks back when I had a severe cold, noting respiratory & breathing issues which was quite impressive.

I have Wrist Temp enabled but it’s just not recording it… ??

Thanks

Ed

I am having the exact same issue.

*New watch

*Series 10

*Received Dec 2

*Have worn to sleep every night since

*Sleep schedule going

*Sleep focus on

*Consistently says needs 5 sleep sessions to establish baseline.

Does not seem to be tracking it at all.

I have been activating/deactivating Sleep Focus on Siri command (not automatically) since at least Vitals app was introduced (and even earlier) > Vitals app worked fine (all five readings). Exactly after watchOS 11.2 update, I don’t have my wrist temperature reading (and measurement) anymore. In addition the Watch battery drains now about 20% during the night (Sleep Focus on) as opposed to about 7% on watchOS 11.1.

Yes I understand that thanks. What I don’t get is why Sleep Focus needs to be active for the Wrist Temperature feature to work, it just doesn’t make any sense to me? As I’ve said before none of the other sensors require Sleep Focus to function, trying to understand why it’s needed for the Temperature sensor feature 🤔

Did you already force restart your watch and iPhone after the latest updates?

To force restart your watch, hold down the Digital Crown and the Side button at the same time for at least 10sec, until the Apple Logo comes back again on the screen.

Also, new watchOS and iOS updates are supposed to be released in the near future.

I think I figured it out last night, maybe. I now show 4 more recordings needed! I'm not sure if it's just a fluke though, but I will update if all 5 recordings go through...

When you're on the screen in your screenshot for the sleep schedule, there is an option there that says "Edit sleep schedule in health" ... inside that option, there is a toggle near the top that says "Use Schedule for Sleep Focus". Make sure that is on. I was helping a friend set their watch up last night for sleep tracking, and I realized that option by default seems to be off. If yours is already on, that's fine, keep reading... mine was too... but...

This is what led me to check mine, and then I had a light bulb moment. Eureeka! My sleep schedule was on, and sleep focus was set to come on, but I had set it a bit too early and when it came on automatically previously, I was shutting it off until I went to bed, then turning it back on manually. Turns out, I don't think that works. I think sleep focus has to be on automatically for it to track the temperature. I don't know why, as this seems like a bit of a design flaw to me - I think it should be able to be manually enabled and still work, but I don't think it does. So last night, I set my schedule back to an appropriate time that I knew I would absolutely be in bed, and I did not turn it off. I let it stay on and do its thing.

This morning, I checked vitals on the watch, and lo and behold, it worked! I hope this helps you as well. It seems like such a silly little thing, but I didn't think it mattered as long as sleep focus was on, and turns out, it does matter. @@ Good luck! Please update if this worked for you too. :)

Ahh thanks for the detailed post.

you are correct… I don’t have ‘Sleep Focus’ setup nor do I want to as I frequently receive phone calls & messages throughout the night as I’m on standby with my work & can’t afford to not receive these calls because my phone or watch thinks I want to sleep without being disturbed.

Guess I will have to live without this function, seems a bit daft that Sleep Focus needs to be setup for this feature to work.

thanks

No despite having about 3 weeks with Sleep Focus setup I still got no wrist temp readings so have just given up & switch this feature off…

I hate the way Apple have this feature setup & having to enable sleep focus, sleep focus in itself is a faff to setup & as confusing as ****, as someone who is frequently contacted through the night as I’m on emergency call with my work I don’t want or need my watch to be setup with sleep focus, why can’t the wrist temp feature just do its stuff in the background like all the other stuff 🤔

I mainly upgraded to the 10 for this feature to go alongside the Vitals app, so disappointing that I can’t use it, but it’s just too much bother trying to get it to work!
