I like to use 1225 (12/25) in the iTunes Year field to distinguish Christmas music from other Holiday music (such as 1031 for Halloween) but with the latest version of iTunes, that seems to have been prevented. Instead, all those tracks have had the Year cleared out. Is there a workaround to get this back? And when was this dumb idea introduced in the first place?

iTunes appears to use the COBOL or Windows NT date format which has an epoch or start date of January 1st 1601. Earlier values for year cannot be stored. As far as I am aware it has been this way since I started using iTunes some 17 years ago.
