How can I disable text Message Badges on my iPhone 13 Pro Max?

My mindfulness focus mode use to not show me text message badges- which is what I liked.

For some reason now the text message badges are coming through.

In the focus settings-options-I have the “Hide notification badges” toggled on and green.

In focus under apps with the carrot going to the right I have tried both:

Allowed notifications from- then have zero apps listed

And have also tried Silenced notifications from and listed the messages app.

How do I get badges to not show up again like it used to? When in mindfulness I don’t want to see the badges or I will be tempted to check them.
