Yes, a drop/fall hard enough to break the back glass could also damage components that affect the front screen. A fall can crack boards, loosen connectors, break solders, and bend individual components. Apple won’t touch your screen without first repairing the back glass.

Yea, the front screen soft touch stopped working just after the rear glass got broken.
