Smart Villages and Renewable Energy : 10th Thematic Group meeting

This is the highlights report of the 10th Thematic Group Meeting on ‘Smart Villages’.

The meeting focused on how Smart Villages can support a transition to a low carbon economy in rural areas. Participants discussed the European Renewable Energy Directive and how it requires Member States to create an enabling environment for Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) in order to help meet Europe’s targets for climate change.
