Eurostat has released the 2024 interactive publication Migration and asylum in Europe, providing insights into key questions about migration in the EU using the latest available data.

The publication looks at topics such as people migrating to the EU, within the EU and from the EU, international protection and asylum, irregular migration, and the skills of migrants.

Did you know that in 2023, 91% (407 million) people in the EU lived in their country of citizenship, while 3% (14 million) were EU citizens residing in another EU country and 6% (27 million) were non-EU citizens? Are you aware that Luxembourg, Malta and Cyprus are the countries with the highest share of non-nationals in their population?

This interactive publication guides you through key indicators on migration and asylum in Europe, offering interactive visualisations and short summaries of the main findings. It allows you to explore and compare data on migration and asylum at EU and country level.

The publication marks the International Migrants Day, celebrated on 18 December.
