ESGAB
Set-up
The European Statistical Governance Advisory Board (ESGAB) is made up of 7 independent members who are experts possessing outstanding competence in the field of statistics. The Commission (Eurostat) is represented as an observer.
Aim
The aim of ESGAB is to give an independent view on how the European Statistics Code of Practice (CoP) is implemented in the ESS.
Responsibilities
ESGAB advises the European Commission (Eurostat) on:
- appropriate measures to facilitate the CoP implementation
- ways to communicate the CoP to users and data providers
- updates of the CoP
It may also provide advice on issues of user confidence in European statistics.
Annual report
In addition, the ESGAB prepares an annual report for the European Parliament and the Council on the implementation of the CoP insofar as it relates to the European Commission (Eurostat). This report includes an assessment of the implementation of the CoP in the ESS as a whole.
