The livestream of this online webinar took place on 18 September 2024 from 15.00 to 16.00 CEST.

Did you know that 12% of the nearly 3 billion nights spent in the EU in 2023 were spent in only 4 top regions? Canarias, Ile de France, Cataluña, and Adriatic Croatia recorded the same number of nights spent as Austria, Portugal, and the Netherlands together.

Did you know that in 2023 719 million guest nights were spent in short-term rentals booked via Airbnb, Booking, Tripadvisor or Expedia? This means nearly 2 million tourists per night slept in a bed booked via these platforms.

This webinar will introduce you to European tourism statistics, including the recent innovative project on data sharing with Airbnb, Booking, Expedia Group, and Tripadvisor. We will also discuss recent innovations in tourism statistics and how statistical data interact with policymaking.
