European Commission adopts 2025 Promotion of Agricultural Products Work Programme (13/12/2024)

The European Commission will allocate €132 million to fund activities to promote sustainable and high-quality agri-food products. The amounts available are split between promotion in the EU internal market and in third countries, with €68.6 million and €63.4 million respectively, allocated to grants. The new calls for proposals will be launched on 22 January 2025.

‘European Food Express’ pop-up event brought the EU taste of excellence to Seoul (19/11/2024)

Back in September, the ‘European Food Express’ initiative, organised by the Colours by Europe campaign, brought the best of EU’s food and beverages to Seoul. This pop-up event transported Korean visitors to Europe through quizzes, cooking classes and tasting talks, highlighting flavours, traditions and sustainable production methods from Europe.

China meets EU flavours with 20,000 meal-box initiative (19/11/2024)

Until the end of this year, the ‘Irresistible Europe, countless combinations’ campaign will offer 20,000 meal-boxes, featuring high quality EU ingredients, in cooperation with the Epermarket and XCF platforms. While the meal box promotion will be held in stores, XCF will share easy-to-prepare online recipes. The promotion kicked off in Shanghai, at an event attended by the EU delegation in October.

EU to co-fund 75 new campaigns to promote sustainable and high-quality EU farm products (19/11/2024)

The 2024 calls for proposals received 162 campaign proposals, with 75 successfully selected campaigns. The 58 SIMPLE selected programmes will receive €94 million in funding, while the 17 MULTI programmes are allocated €48.6 million. The proposals consist of promotional activities and information campaigns aiming to boost the competitiveness of the EU agri-food sector.

On 13-16 November, the EU will host a Pavilion at Vietnam FoodExpo, in Ho Chi Minh City. The dynamic programme includes cooking shows with well-known chefs, info sessions and food tasting events. The participants will have the chance to experience first-hand 150 EU products, many of them being protected by Geographic Indications labels or the Organic label.

2024 calls for the promotion of agricultural products: evaluation results expected later this autumn (24/09/2024)

The European Commission has concluded the evaluation of 130 SIMPLE and 32 MULTI proposals submitted to two calls for proposals concerning promotional measures for agricultural products implemented within the internal market and third countries. MULTI applicants were already informed about the evaluations’ outcome, while SIMPLE applicants will be informed in November 2024.

The BORDEUS-2 program promotes premium European wines, particularly from Germany and Bordeaux, in the United States. By raising awareness on the high food safety standards and the quality of the European fruits and vegetables, the Mediterranean Combo campaign highlights the beneficial impact of integrating at least five portions of fruits and vegetables into your everyday diet. The campaign also aims to increase sales value in the markets of Greece, Spain, Germany, and Hungary. Seven producer organizations from Greece and one trade organization from Spain carry out the initiative. The EU contributes with €2.72 million.

The project ‘Without borders regional - organic in Europe’ (GReBioEU) aims to increase awareness and recognition around the EU organic quality system and the competitiveness and consumption of EU organic products in Germany and Italy. The communication activities focus on reducing prejudices and increasing knowledge, including advantages of regional production as guarantee of EU origin. The partners BIOLAND E.V. The 2023 calls for proposals received 119 campaign proposals, with 68 successfully selected campaigns. The 50 SIMPLE selected programmes will be supported with a budget of €88.7 million and the 18 MULTI programmes will receive a budget of €54.3 million. The proposals aim to boost the competitiveness of the EU agri-food sector, while contributing to the European Green Deal and the Farm to Fork strategy, amongst other EU key priorities.

Potatoes are forever! (21/11/2023)

Potatoes benefit from a positive image for their gustatory qualities, practicality and historic dimension. The POTATOES FOREVER campaign seeks to show sustainable practices in Italy and France, focusing on the professionals’ commitment to reduce potatoes’ impact on the environment. The CNIPT, interbranch of fresh potatoes in France, and the UNAPA, union of producers' associations in Italy, are the two organisations caring out the campaign, with an EU contribution of €2.6 million.

Countless combinations” Pavilion included workshops on Geographical Indications (GIs) and organic products, cooking shows, and tasting sessions featuring over 200 European products, giving participants a unique opportunity to learn about the close bonds between cultural heritage and local farming practices.
