Teaching and Learning about Cultures with iPad - Activity Workbook

After presenting at the Kamehameha Schools EdTech Conference in Hawaii I was inspired to create this iPad Activity Workbook for teachers. In this book teachers will learn how to use dynamic apps to support and engage students in the classroom when learning about ones culture.

Download this activity book below to dive into teaching about Hawaiian culture through these exploratory iPad activities.

Teachers will gather and document your own creation to refer back to when building engaging activities within your classroom.

Katie, this is a great example.. if your school is one to one.. these kinds of formats can really create great guidance for students. The time that you spend in creating these templates really show your care for student learning and scaffolding of instruction and cuts down on grading time..

Peptalk to those new to creating lessons with Pages or Numbers

Sometimes when someone sees these kinds of templates they think, I can't do this, it looks too good.. but honestly, it is a trade off between time spent in planning versus time spent in grading. One thing I always stress to preservice teachers, your goal is to provide enough structure to keep the hands down in class. I love this example for its clarity and student support.

if you are a one to one teacher, know that you can start with a file like this and edit it. Also, keep in mind, the goal of a presentation like Katie did is partially to provide diverse examples, what you create may not have as many choices as you begin to learn the technology and think of great ways to utilize it. Once you begin teaching with templates like this, the workflow becomes more routine and can you add small pieces of interactivity to more of your lessons.

Remember, Rome was not built in a day. Adding interactivity could be one piece once a week, so that next year, it can be two pieces etc..

YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Also use the other resources in this forum if you want to teach this way. .For example this post https://education.apple.com/resource/250013658 talks about how you can create templates like Katie did.
