High School Learning with Apple #20: Modeling Proper Technique

Jennifer Orton (@jorton) and I met at ADE institute in 2023 and have been working on compiling lessons for high school teachers using MacBooks or iPads in class. Jennifer uses iPads, and I use MacBooks, and in our collaboration, we realized that small adjustments can be made to apply the lessons in each environment. Over the next 30 days, we’ll post one lesson idea each day!

Lesson Idea #20: Modeling Proper Technique

For this lesson, the teacher wanted her students to show proper lifting techniques and the kinetic chain. She also wanted her students to show the improper technique.

The students were each assigned individual lifting exercises to model. They used QuickTime to take their technique pictures prior to creating their Keynote slides. By adding their images to slides and removing the background, the students were able to create visuals showing correct and incorrect lifting technique.

Her students were able to share their work with the rest of the class by adding their visuals to our LMS. For a Health Science class, creating models is imperative for students to show their mastery of the material.

Innovative way for to use Keynote for physical education or athletics! Very simple but also effective, having students as both the models and the designers of the presentation.
