Community updates on developing ESCI Phase II

We are excited to share the latest updates related to the future evolution of the European Student Card Initiative!

""

As we advance in the preparation of ESCI Phase II, the unwavering commitment and enthusiasm of many organisations has been instrumental. Together we are preparing the ESCI infrastructure for the future of Erasmus+ student mobility.

Information-sharing sessions

Over recent weeks, we've held 17 communication and information-sharing sessions, bringing together an extensive network of third-party service providers and higher education in-house IT teams.

These sessions

  • helped us clarify and discuss the future evolution of the ESCI infrastructure
  • gathered input invaluable to strengthening our shared vision
  • were instrumental to refine the business implementation and transition plans for 2025 and 2026
  • raised insights which are already being incorporated into the ESCI phase II roadmap for 2025-2026

Participants

Service providers included SOP, Erasmus Jet, Kion, Sigma, Cineca, QS/Move On, MUCI) and the EWP Dashboard team in university of Thessaloniki.

Higher education IT teams also joined sessions, including from the Technical University CZ, University of West Bohemia, Porto University, Universidad de Oviedo, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, University of Salamanca, University of the Basque Country, and Toulouse Business School GSE.

Key takeaways

  • 96% of transaction ecosystem providers are involved, confirming a strong commitment towards a user-centered future ESCI infrastructure that is prepared for the next Erasmus+ programme
  • we best refine business implementation and transition plans when both third-party service providers and in-house experts are actively involved in discussions
  • interest in joining development, testing and pre-production activities remains high among in-house systems and service providers

What's next?

Upcoming activities will include test schedules, workshops, and additional consultation opportunities.
