ESCO visits to the US Department of Labour in Washington DC
On 30 May 2019, the ESCO team had a meeting at the US Department of Labour in Washington DC.
Representatives from the National Centre for O*NET Development as well as the Bureau of International Labour Affairs joined that meeting.
The objective of the meeting was to look at potential links between O*NET and ESCO and exchange best practices related to the maintenance of classifications as well as the development and use cases of ESCO and O*NET.
The Commission contacted the US Department of Labour earlier in 2019, after deciding to develop a ESCO skills pillar hierarchy. The development of this hierarchy is based on various classifications, including O*NET.
This visit forms the initial step for developing a bridge of communication between the EU and the US in order to exchange best practices and foster transatlantic cooperation on topics related to labour mobility and the digital labour market.
