The Awardist Almost an EGOT: The biggest stars who are missing just 1 award These entertainers are each a trophy away from a showbiz grand slam. By EW Staff Updated on January 29, 2025 07:56PM EST Three out of four ain't bad. In awards-happy Hollywood, the highest of all accolades is to be among the elite club of individuals who have received at least one competitive Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony to complete the EGOT. Some of the legendary artists who have achieved an EGOT include Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Moreno, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis, and Elton John. But there are dozens more who are close to joining the club, including a few who have a very good shot with major projects on the horizon. Here are the living stars who are just one teeny, tiny, measly little trophy away from the EGOT. The non-competitive winners S Granitz/WireImage; Bettmann Archive; John Paul Filo/CBS via Getty Images First of all, we have to recognize the stars who sort of have the EGOT, having won three competitive awards and almost checked off the fourth box with a non-competitive trophy. They are: Quincy Jones and the late Harry Belafonte, both of whom have won the film Academy's Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award; the late James Earl Jones, who has the Academy Honorary Award; Liza Minnelli, who has the Grammy Legend Award; and Barbra Streisand, who has the Special Tony Award. Kate Winslet Kate Winslet. Kevin Winter/Getty Images One of the most distinguished actresses of her generation, Kate Winslet has starred in more deserving films and series than she'll ever get credit for. But she will EGOT if she ever takes home a Tony.
