Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna challenge Bert and Ernie over which duo are better best friends

The "Sesame Street" stars have been friends for decades, but so have Bernal and Luna.

After more than 50 years on Sesame Street together, Bert and Ernie are confirmed besties. But a new video shows them being challenged on whether they're actually better best friends than actors Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna.

Each duo answered questions about their BFF to determine the winner. First up, Bernal was asked what kind of animal Luna would want to be. He answered elephant and the two celebrated the answer, although they appeared to be pulling one over on the Sesame Street residents. The teams also tossed each other questions on their bestie's morning routine and what they would sell if they owned a store. It was all very cute, and it had some truth to it.

Watch their, ahem, friendly standoff below:

Bernal and Luna have been friends since childhood. The stars of Alfonso Cuarón's 2001 film Y Tu Mamá También are now both executive producers and stars of Hulu's new La Máquina. The streamer's first Spanish-language original series, which premiered Oct. 9, follows Bernal's character, Esteban "La Máquina" Osuna, a veteran boxer gearing up for his final shot at victory. Luna portrays his manager and childhood friend, Andy Luján, who, it turns out, has made some agreements that could put both men in danger.

Luna was required to wear some serious prosthetics for the role.

"The nose doesn't happen to be mine and a lot is happening in the forehead. And those lips, sadly, they're not mine. I had to give them back. I have no lips, basically," Luna told Entertainment Weekly. "I'm going to be honest here: That ass is not mine. It's gigantic. And I'm happy not to have it because, to be fair, it's very uncomfortable. The trousers had to be tailored for that ass to fit. But I mean, [Andy] is someone that is just not happy with the way he looks, and not happy with what he sees in the mirror."

Luna said watching his friend play a fighter giving it one last go was "beautiful to witness."

But perhaps not as amusing as seeing Bernal and Luna wear the same wardrobe as Bert and Ernie.
