Boston Rob Mariano wants wife Amber to play Deal or No Deal Island (exclusive)

"It's about time she gets back out there."

Boston Rob Mariano never met a competition he didn’t like. Especially if it is on television with lots of money at stake. The reality TV legend has competed on Survivor five times, The Amazing Race twice, Deal or No Deal Island once, and is currently mixing it up with other famous faces in a Scottish Castle on The Traitors.

The Robfather also sometimes takes a different role on reality competition shows, acting as a mentor on Survivor: Island of the Idols, and currently hosting the Deal or No Deal Island After Show. Boston Rob came in fourth place during DONDI’s first season, after being assessed a penalty for a rules violation in the final excursion. And now he assesses all the action that goes down in the Banker’s Temple.

With that in mind, we asked the Deal or No Deal Island competitor-turned-commentator what other reality star should take on the Banker, and we were somewhat stunned by his answer — an answer that involves another Mariano!

“Here's my pick for a contestant that I think would do great on the next season of Deal or No Deal Island,” Boston Rob says in the video, which can be watched above. “I'm nominating my wife, Amber.”

Of course, the former Amber Brkich has an illustrious reality TV résumé of her own. She appeared on the second-ever season of Survivor (The Australian Outback) and then beat her future husband at final Tribal Council to take home the million dollars on Survivor: All-Stars. She also competed with Rob on those two seasons of The Amazing Race, including a super-controversial second place finish on season 7 when their plane heading to the final leg was called back to the gate so eventual winners Uchenna and Joyce could board (and save CBS from a drama-free finale in which only one team made it to the final city).

But Amber’s reality TV days seemed to be over, which is what made it so shocking when she returned with Rob to compete on Survivor: Winners at War (which filmed in 2019 and aired in 2020). However, even that appearance — in which she was voted out first by her tribe — was seen more as a full-circle moment to wrap a bow on her reality TV career. So what exactly is her soulmate doing nominating her for Deal or No Deal Island?

“It's about time she gets back out there and brings home a little bacon for the family,” says Boston Rob. “I've been running around all these shows — Deal or No Deal Island, Traitors — I need a break!”

It seems the Robfather is proposing something of a spousal swap. “I'll stay home and watch the kids. Honey, you get out here and get it done.”

Whether Amber actually has any interest in chasing briefcases through muddy swamps and dealing with all those other lunatics in the cast is another question entirely. But if she does, it can truly be a family affair when Amber’s husband interviews her on the Deal or No Deal Island After Show. Wait… who’ll watch the kids?!?
