Great bar to go to before the Sox game or even when they aren't in town since you can see directly into the Famous Fenway Park. The staff is friendly and quick.
3C Race Productions runs a number of 5K races here. They're always fun, and Artesani Park is so scenic -- right on the Charles. Good, flat courses, too.
Artesani Park is awesome for family get togethers as they have lots of shade and grass and a couple of picnic tables and an awesome wading pool with a a great sprinkler system a couple of kiddie parks

A pleasant park with a decent playground and good open lawn space, just over the Charles River Dam from Boston proper.
Don't park right next to the island. Instead, park on a numbered street in Southie and walk. Fewer headaches and more exercise.
Park down near the beach, not on the numbered streets. The residents have enough trouble finding a parking space near their homes.
So much space to park! Also, you can get a spectacularly clear view of airplanes landing on the runway at Logan.

Around lunch time for many there is ParkArts and supposedly local artists setup on Copley park and perform :) ...it is quite nice.

Wonderful tree-lined, middle of the street, yet spacious green park along Comm Ave near the Common... few memorials and statues, some benches, etc along the way!
