Well run station right in the centre of Kraków. The station is next door to the grand Galeria Krakowska and the train takes you directly to the airport in around 15 mins!
Get into the platform from the underground floor of the shopping mall. There is free WiFi zone , toilet and tickets machines near the connection. So you don't have to walk that cold corridor.:)
I remember the very first day of myself here, total chaos, but this Poland, if you can't find your way at night, just go town center, very close, 24h live city, stay in a Mc donalds until day appears.
Don't wait in a ridiculously long queue, get your ticket from a machine (on some platforms and in other spots; przewozy regionalne company: regio trains) or online (intercity and tlk)!
When buying a ticket from IC ticket machines be aware that if seat(s) of the type you selected (window etc.) are not available the machine will just assign the first free seat without informing you.
Brand new central train station. Lots of places to eat n drink, bookstore, grocery, information, cleanedrestroom (2,5PLN) and many more shops. Free WiFi.
Ticket machines are handy, but quite slow when searching for connections. And you don't get any promotional discounts, those can be only get in ticket booth. Reduced fare tickets are available.
by a train to Balice airport for just 10 zl (2,5 euro) you can get there in 20 minutes. you can enjoy drink at Old Market Square and in 10 minutes walk get om the train to the airport
If you need help because you don't speak Polish, ask (young) people around you to translate for you, staff never speaks English (or any other language than Polish, in fact) and random people do.
Don't queue for AirportExpress tickets in front of ticket boothes, there is a multi-lingual ticket vending machine accepting cash, credit cards & VPay cards on platform 1 from where the train leaves.
This place is like a maze. No clear directions, no signs. I am Polish and I had problems with finding ticket desks at Polish station. You have to wander through shopping mall. Ridiculous!
No ticket machines at all within the station building, instead and lot of them in the underpass at the entrance of the Galerie Krakowska. Just because.
Be prepared to lose your nerves as customer service's standard here is very low and incompetence interwoven with malice is what you've got to deal with. Queues are also long, especially in rush hours.
If you need some coins for a locker box. Don't ask at cash desk, they are rude and refuse to help. But near toilets there's a changing machine - banknotes for coins.
