Harris Teeter is a good grocery store. It's seldom crowded and has a wide variety of goods.

Though something I didn't know, their products rotate so you may or may not find the brand you had a month ago. Free parking!- Another place in the Pentagon City/Crystal City area where you can buy Powerball, Mega Millions and VA lottery tickets. -M
If you wait till Sunday night, the produce, meat and milk sections may be pretty bare. They do a huge business on Sundays from DC people coming to shop, as well as locals.

This location is no longer 24 hours. New hours, as of October 2, 2019, are 5 am - midnight.
A lot of scripts at the pharmacy are free and first time customers with VIC card get $20 off groceries
Go after midnight when no one is there just don't expect good service
