One of if not the oldest coffee shops in DC. They roast the coffee across the way in Alexandria. Mesco is their signature blend and it is FANTASTIC. Espresso is great as well as the cappuccino.聽

For a jolt, try one of the perfectly pulled espresso drinks. And don't forget to take some beans home from the shop, the roastery in Alexandria or area Whole Foods. Read more

Folks line up in droves for the expresso drinks, yet one of the hidden gems is the smooth chai latte. If you're a fan of the drink, make sure to try Swing's version.

Awesome latte! Love the energy of this place. Being that it has been here since 1916 and so close to the White House, makes me wonder who may have had a coffee here.

A taste of old D.C., still going strong after many many years. Get a donut and a coffee and sit in the courtyard behind the building.

Best coffee in the business district around the White House. Fun eavesdropping on conversations given all of the patrons have interesting policy/legal/lobbying/government jobs.

Easily one of the best coffee bars in DC. I never need to take the latte with sugar, it's just that good.

A great coffee and toasted bagel. In winter a great spot to warm after viewing The White House.

Not sure if this place has the beans in DC, but definitely the best espresso drinks. It's a treat to work by it.

Don't be a chump waiting for a fancy espresso drink. Order a 20 ounce C.O.D. and feel like a pro.

Order 1lb of Eurodark bean or ground to your liking for home brewing. It's the closest to European roasts from overseas.

I don't know why it is nearly impossible to get espresso that is not burnt in the US- but Swing's is a rare gem. Get grounds for your weekend fix.
