Game is dead
Game is dead, its just no one has told it.
Went in to the Game upstairs in Sports Direct this morning, picked up about £150 worth of games and went to the till.
There was a sign.
"Till closed. Please pay for items at till downstairs"
So, I go downstairs, as I'm making my way to the till point I'm stopped by the only staff member I've seen so far.
"Oh," he says, "you'll need to pay for those upstairs"...
I tell him about the sign. He looks genuinely puzzled and a bit ticked off,
"What sign?" he asks, then picks up his walkie and calls a name, at this point I really can't be bothered with the chaotic structure, no one answers him and again he says I need to go back upstairs, so I ask him what I'm expected to do, run the stuff through the till myself, he says that someone should be up there, clearly getting irritated,
"Well if they are up there, they're hiding really really well." He just shrugs.
I hand him the games and tell him it's not worth the hassle and start to walk away, as I do I hear him start to talk to someone on his walkie, he asks whoever he's talking to what the expletive he's been doing as a customer is walking out.
I didn't wait to hear the rest of it.
There wasn't much in stock in the concession, more toys than games and the toys looked like remnant stock from a warehouse.
A sad end to a once great brand....but I'm not surprised as this particular store (Edinburgh Straiton) has been really poor for a couple of years now.
