Description
The main goal of this action is help to recover the population of river bats, so that they can contribute to regulate the riverbank ecosystem of insects and improve the local biodiversity. To this end, a community workshop will be held to create bat shelters to help keep bats safe from other predators.
This workshop will be offered to the local community, mainly including families and youth, but open to any other participant who wishes to collaborate. The workshop will be held at the youth space on June 22, Saturday, to encourage citizen participation, and participants will create the wooden shelters to help the bats in the riverbank area. Bats are important to ecosystems because they control insect populations, pollinate plants, and disperse seeds.
However, many bat populations are in decline due to habitat loss and other factors. Providing artificial shelters helps them survive and reproduce, contributing to their conservation. Many bat species are insect predators, feeding on a wide variety of agricultural and forest pests. By controlling insect populations, bats can help mitigate the damage caused by these pests to plants and thereby promote vegetation health and growth, which is essential for ecosystem restoration.
