Effective integration of migrants into the host society is a key challenge and a precondition to successful migration management for EMN Member and Observer Countries. National governments have primary responsibility for the development and implementation of social and integration policies, with the EU playing a key support role through funding, developing guidance, and fostering relevant partnerships.
The EMN has, jointly with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), published an inform on the ‘Implementation of measures for civic training as an important tool for integration of third-country nationals’. This joint inform provides an overview of civic training schemes/programmes for third-country nationals in EMN Member and Observer Countries, and in non-EU OECD countries.
EMN France’s national conference 2024 aims to highlight the key findings of the EMN - OECD inform, as well as to discuss the situation in France and selected EMN Member and Observer Countries through three panels dedicated respectively to (1) Educational approaches in teaching the host country’s citizenship values (2) Focus on structured civic training courses, and (3) Assessing knowledge and introducing a civics test: issues and procedures.
